Is it safe to provide credit card number to hotel for confirmation of booking?
Some even ask for expiry date and the last 3 digit code at the back of the card.

Need to give those details for merchant to charge your card. So, if they want to charge you, have to give.. if they only want for confirmation on their own process without charging you, no reason to give. But still, even you walk in and give card to counter and swipe then you take back, that's not safe also. Very easy to duplicate your card once it is swiped..

After my card cloned before... I stop using now.... no more CC for me...

so i guess there's no reason for them to take my credit card details for booking . that's what i thought and they should think of the customer safety. i requested to bank in for them instead but no reply.

Online booking got extra charges if not mistaken.

I thought theres verification process before the actual payment was made. I know maybank and RHB bank does have it.

the hotel needs the credit card is because to verify cost that you may incur during your stay.
some hotels they will ask last 3 digits like my old workplace.
my new workplace don't ask the last 3 digits cus there's been a case.

important is : always check ur credit card when it's returned (make sure it's yours) and monitor the guy handling it.

TS,Using c/card have risk everywhere or rather anywhere, maybe can try hard to prevent clone/con/watever but cant totally stop those syndicates.. Macam macam ada zaman skrg~ Sigh~

Swipe these days very rare already, since chip style cards are mandated by BNM.

ya lo. Last time i booked 1 room from Genting, they never ask for the 3 digit and Expiry Date. Just the Number and the Owner name. Also tried on other low grade hotel, they don't ask for the 3 digit and expiry date. Never ever give ony1 ur last 3 digit

yea true. many merchants(even big ones like Amazon.com) still don't require 3-digit code. Apparently Visa/Mastercard never made it mandatory.

Dammn.... I gave my full credit card details including the last 3 digit during this raya hotel booking...! how???
