They don't seem to sell cheap mechanical keyboards here like the Scorpius and Adesso?

Any other cheap Cherry Blue mechanical keyboards selling here?

How much is the OCZ Alchemy Elixir? I heard it's inexpensive. Looking for a gaming keyboard not exceeding RM150.

Also where is the Alchemy sold? Havent seen it anywhere.

Razer Black Widow Ultimate is using Cherry Mx blue switches.
They are tactile Clicky.

It's weird why they picked this for a gamers keyboard. Maybe the clicky is to impress new users to mechanical. Well some people do like clicky, so this is subjective.

However blue cherry is not good for double taps because of the high release point.

I would have thought that the brown cherry would have been more balanced.

Yeah, even 7G is using Cherry Black. Does it use Pad Printing or some other ways?

No kidding, 200$ for a PBT laser etched version, that's RM620 converted!

Now, somewhere between 300-400 bucks would be more reasonable I guess.

Added on October 21, 2010, 6:41 pmCome to think about it, ABS caps are 50% cheaper, and what are their downsides? Gets shiny over time only?

Thanks for the link, interesting read.

Though some people prefer ABS because they're tried and tested with Model M, but PBT should be better in theory.

The Ducky order in VR Zone, the currency is in SGD or USD? Got caught off guard there, forgot those are singaporeans and their signs are the same sweat.gif

Great! SGD! Now the laser etched PBT will cost about 500 bucks, around 530 if including shipping and transaction fee. Still expensive by any standard but definitely worth a consideration.

I'm not planning to buy one now anyway, gotta save money till next year.

Off topic, but does anybody know how to change Firefox browser's default chinese font to the ones we get back in school exams, you know fuller characters instead of these skinny ones. Really hurt my reading speed and eyes when reading those chinese fonts. sweat.gif

While on topic, Filco keyboards seem pretty standard but the downside is that they use Pad Printing keys, no extra buttons and I don't see them selling here in Malaysia. So I think the price will be the same, if not more expensive than Ducky's?

I dont get what is full or skinny? do you mean font? or the trad / simplified chinese

Look here : http://www.clearchinese.com/resources/fonts.htm

I prefer fonts like 汉鼎简楷体.

Meanwhile, does anybody know anybody selling the Scorpius M10, seems nice and cheap. Though reportedly there are quality issues but I heard it was resolved in the newer batches.

Here is a review of the Scorpius M10

Just don't expect it to be in the same league as Filco, Das, and Ducky doh.gif

Seems like it is a decent keyboard, but doesn't have that 'special' feel to it. I have time to make my decision so I plan to wait till Razer BW is here, get a try how a cherry blue feels like, then proceed to buy the keyboard that suits me best.

Frankly I don't feel secure buying a few hundred bucks item without even a hinch how it feels.

Well if anyones interested, i posted a Ducky 9008 comparison against the Filco Majestouch.

http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=12284
A few Singaporeans own both the Ducky 9008 and Filco Majestouch. So it's convenient for everyone else to decide based on the facts which they prefer. Of course some of it is subjective, and people won't know which until they try in person. However it's safe to say you will have enough info to make a better informed decision which you would like :]

Seems like Filco has a slightly better overall typing quality but Ducky has extra qualities to consider like Function keys, price, key caps. I heard nobody knows Filco's key caps material, PBT or ABS.

Funny thing is, I'm at around 80-100WPM with my rubber dome Logitech Internet Pro keyboard.

Wonder what wonders will the mechanical keyboard give me... hmmm...

I don't think it will increase my WPM that much but it certainly does help in the feel and comfort department. I definitely HATE the Shift key on my keyboard.
Btw, the S,N and M key are 100% gone after 4 years of use. The K,A,L are coming off soon too. Almost all of my alphabet keys and the spacebar are now shiny.
