Are the steelseries 6gv2 and 7g keyboards tilted? As in the top row higher than the bottom row?

Yup.

most of the keyboards are like that, provided that you put the stand up.
but in 7G & 6Gv2, I dont think there is a stand  hmm.gif
*
Yea thats why. Current dying keyboard is currently flat, not sure whether I can get used to the tilt.

Yea I doubt too. I think we only get to test at roadshows.
I remembered a steelseries roadshow once and I think we get to test keyboards there. Same to razer during pc fair.

But cannot wait laaaaaa. Cherry blue and cherry black switches, gotta choose between black widow and 6gv2.

Comparison:
Cherry Blue switch has lighter switch and make a tick tick sound when typing.
Cherry Black switch has a lil harder switch compare to blue switch and it doesn't have any sound unless you press the key a till the end and hit the bottom to produce a little sound.

Blue switch are better in both, because it do well in both gaming and typing, even in some reviews people rate it 9/10 Typing, 9/10 gaming. while Black switch are only better in gaming because the key is harder and lessen any mistake that when you type a key in fast, nearly key won't be press on mistake. it scores 10/10 Gaming, but in typing, i don't really think most people will like to type on this keyboard because it takes times to getting used to the key feel.

i feel theres not much difference in the actuation force, afterall its only 10gms difference.
the difference for me is that if u can touch type u can go faster on the blacks than the blues...cos u tend to press the blues til it clicks which is at around 4mm compared to the 2mm travel distance required to activate the key.
now if only some cherry reds would appear...  whistling.gif

I think blue clicks around 2mm too. 4mm should be the bottoming out clack.

The say black has no tactile feel or something but is better for gaming. I spend 50 50 on gaming and typing. But I feel typing is more important cause to type faster means more gaming time!
If only the blackwidow looked nicer.

But definitely possible to spam keys faster than a membrane keyboard. Too bad no time to play SC2 yet.

I'm just wondering why the 7g is so much more expensive than the blackwidow ultimate  hmm.gif
*
7g and 6gv2 has full NKRO. Meaning you will be able to press all keys on the keyboard at the same time while the blackwidow doesn't.

Alot of my friend complain about the lack of 7G lack of style since it reminds them of old school keyboard,  they say they rather get BW since it looks cooler. I probably go for 7G to match my Xai.
*
Somehow I just love the basic steelseries 6gv2, 7g keyboard design. Loved razer keyboard design too but somehow not the BW, Tron or marauder.

But you better keep the 7G, might become useful again one day when you start back your gaming sessions. biggrin.gif
*
Yea, hard choice, but I still think the 7g is just average for typing. I still prefer my laptop keyboard at typing.
Gaming 7g is great, but playing starcraft 2 I hardly notice the difference. Maybe thats just cause of my low apm. However playing platformers or spaceshooters with the 7g is just awesome.

Mechanical keyboard that uses cherry switches rocks. You just need to find the right one for you.

Strictly no blink for me lol, I hate permanent lighted keyboard.

And I have really bad experience with Razer's quality control

Most gaming keyboards are bling. Thats why I went with 7g instead, simplicity and professional look.
Actually most gaming keyboards are really marketing gimmicks. I mean a gaming keyboard marketed with having anti ghosting but without full NKRO is a joke. My previous Samsung RM 20 keyboard could perform almost the same and actually could win some gaming keyboards at ghosting except that the keys feel crappy.

Anyway there are alot of good mechianical keyboards with the professional look, steelseries 6gv2 , 7g, Filco. but all cost arm and legs!

Hm i wonder ..... whether we should start a mechanical keyboard club ? The thread says gaming keyboard, but the irony is, gaming keyboards by logitech are all rubber domes which cost just as much

So if you ask me, mechanical black cherry keyboards are better for gaming. Browns are for a balance between gaming and typing. Blues are for people who like clicky.

Thats not to say that rubber dome keyboards are useless, as i found the LCD on my G15 slightly useful for Ventrilo as i can see who is talkin on the vent without alt tabbing. But for a better typing experience, mechanical is the way to go :]
*
I wanna try those damn cherry brown.
Yea I think we should start a mechanical keyboard thread, it seems that mechanical keyboards took over this thread.
