Hana Saku Iroha = moeshit

No plot, one-dimensional characters with "cute" verbal tics, annoying mascot thing, totally cliche dialogue, predictable character interactions. Basically the whole hook of the show is how OMGKAWAII the girls are. The art isn't even very good considering when it was made. Really, its soundrack the only thing it has going for it.

The Hana-Saku Iroha television anime premiered in Japan on Sunday with a surprise for eagle-eyed viewers — a phone number was shown onscreen that actually connects to a working phone with the main character's voice. In the first six minutes of the anime, the mother of the high school protagonist Ohana shows the name and phone number of Ohana's new home, the hot spring inn Kissuisō.

The onscreen phone number of the fictional Kissuisō, 076-235-1168, is an actual working number. ("076" is an area code in Toyama, the prefecture where Hana-Saku Iroha's studio P.A. Works is located.) People who successfully connect to the number — which has been very busy since its discovery — hear the following answering machine message from Ohana (Kanae Itō)

Nako rushes along the path from the main building to the bath house, breathing heavily. At that time, the window bursts open; Ohana emerges to bask in the light of the gentle spring that embraces the mountain spa. Suddenly, the flower hair ornaments glimmer as the cold wind of early spring threatens her stubbornly protected chastity. In reaction to her most sensitive parts being touched, Ohana presses her knees together.

<Nako> 「The bubble-filled training starts now, okay? It's important~」

Nako hands two mops to Ohana.

<Ohana> 「A mop? Why isn't it a deck brush?」
<Nako> 「Maa! Even with a deck brush... you'd definitely scream loudly~」

Nako's face turns a deep crimson; smiling curiously, she changes the topic by poking Ohana in the back with the mop. Teasing the pure ryokan waitress-in-training, she slides the mop tip along Ohana's back...

Don't really care about those fanservice, though I kinda surprised by Nako's... uhh.. nvm.

This is getting good, hell, better than everyone's expectation. And its cute to see Minko going that far just to insult Ohana.

I just marathon all 5 episodes Hanasaku Iroha last nite.

A very good anime indeed. Reminds me of some old malay drama (Spektra slot at TV2) that story about restaurant management which centered around a girl who manage to make all the staff in the restaurant get along together.

According to Hokkoku Newspaper, Yuwaku Hot Spring , the model town of Hanasaku Iroha, has been humming with business since the start of the anime. After the earthquake in March, nearly 1,500 guests have canceled the hotel reservations in Yuwaku but the rooms of all the nine hotels were fully booked by the anime fans just before the holidays in May. The bottles of Yuwaku Cider have been flying off the shelves because the cider was shown in the ED.
