Thanks mates. This is what I did. Yesterday got iPhone 4 from Digi from Solaris SohoKL Mont Kiara. Today read forum.

Didn't want to wait or take the chance for Malaysia case program to come, which it may never.

I made an iTunes Store Singapore account using my name but my uncle's Singapore address. Used the iPhone Case Program app on the iPhone 4, selected InCase Snap Smoke, which I think is nice, after looking at YouTube reviews. There was the final step of entering name and address, I used same as my iTunes Store Singapore account with my name my uncle's Singapore address.

It said Thank You, and will be shipped 1-3 weeks time. Email will be sent to etc. etc. when shipped. No confirmation email of order yet. Not sure if I will get it, not sure if it will work, but so far, well, give it a shot, Apple promised me a free case... Grrr LOL

biggrin.gif Woot got my order acknowledgement, here's what it looks like (of course nicer formatting, I just copied and pasted the text)... I've hidden my personal information, of course. Now to wait. hmm.gif I won't buy a case in the meantime, I have PowerSupport front antiglare and back clear screen protectors on it. Machines has a wide range of cases, but nothing I personally liked, I'm quite picky, plus maybe can get this free, Machines KLCC has a range of iPhone4 cases, but no InCase brand so far, AFAIK. This of course may change over time as more cases may come in, iPhone4 being just launched in Malaysia.

can i used msia credit card to create the sg itunes account?
*
Hi, you do not need credit card. You go to iTunes. Change country to Singapore. Choose a FREE app from the app store. Click to download the app. It will ask you to sign up. Then at the step of the payment options choose "none". This is the way to not have to enter any credit card information.

Good luck

Those who claim on last day 30/09/2010, have you received your case yet hmm.gif

Anyone got the following INCASE model yet? When did you submit your claim through iPhone app?

hmm.gif So far case hasn't arrived at my uncle's place in Singapore. Malaysian Digi unit. Here's an extract of the shipping notice:

Ordered on 25/09/2010
Shipped on: 27/09/2010

Here's the publicly accessible link to track the shipment... No change from above sad.gif
http://store.apple.com/go/sg/vieworder//WR...SG-A10000085057

I think it is a bit chaotic still for Apple maybe everyone rushing at last minute to claim their free case, at first when I ordered through the iPhone app they said 1-3 weeks shipping time, then on 27th Sep I got the notice it shipped, but until now hasn't arrived yet.

I believed is the DHL problem cause based on ur order details , it show Shipped on: 27/09/2010  ...

I think ship means apple send out the item , deliver means DHL send the item ...

Yah. I give them one more day (tomorrow) then will call Apple Store Singapore for info. Hopefully can somehow call Singapore 1800 Apple Store number from here.

Thanks.

Thanks mates my uncle just checked and texted it has arrived... Yeah... That's how Apple operates outside Malaysia. Not f***ed up like here in Malaysia. Bloody Digi and Maxis. Not even bothered to implement the free cases even though Apple outside of Malaysia seems willing to help with that. WTF mate. Steve Jobs promised, and Steve Jobs delivered. That's how it's done, DIGI AND MAXIS...!!!

I switched to Digi a few months ago, I have many reasons why I am never going back to Maxis. They try to show they are the "best" and "premium" telco but it's all a sham. Look at the iPhone 4 launch event. What a nightmare. I walked into a Digi store on Friday 24th Sep morning, BOOM! within 15 minutes I was out the door with my new iPhone 4. Fair enough I was there from 7.30am but by 10am when they opened (Digi Centre Solaris Mont Kiara) there were only about 30 people in the queue.

Maxis tried to have a big spectacular event but they cut the budget by not having it at KLCC convention centre or something like that and it bit them in the a** including all the supposed pre-booking time slots which was all screwed up anyways. doh.gif

BTW anyways my uncle will send by registered mail. Hope that's good enough, speed not too important, arriving safely is.

Now of course, we depend on the good ol' Pos Malaysia. Hope they don't drop the ball on this one. Ah well...

Why need proof? IIRC you said cannot claim bumper through Apple Case Program? The story is quite different now, no?

The point is push Maxis as hard as possible. Don't be an a**hole, just be firm. If Maxis Centre willing to help, eventually hopefully they will. Ask to speak to a manager if needed.

I really dun understand why Maxis dun 'voluntary' offer assistance for ppl to claim the bumper case. it doesn't cost them anything & it's a good way to build rapport with customers.
*
You gotta understand, maybe I'm being too blunt, but Maxis is quite dysfunctional nowadays. Not that they are totally hopeless, it's just that weird stuff like this happens where they don't give free cases when you can actually claim them through Apple, plus some Maxis places saying something others aren't.

QUOTE(keewah @ Oct 7 2010, 02:29 AM)
i am using digi...perform death-grip , get No Service ....
*
My tests with iPhone4 on Digi is as follows: DeathGrip will drop service by about 1 bar. So, if you have 2 bars, it will go down to 1 bar, maybe No Service. But if you have 3 bars or higher there should be no problem. Obviously signal strength is usually better if 3G is off, signal strength usually lower when 3G is on.

More objectively, if you turn on Field Test mode on iPhone4 with iOS 4.1, you'll see a -10 to -25 dB drop in the signal. Max signal I have got (5 bar indicative) is about -60 dB . Worst signal (but still 1 bar and can maintain service and 3G data usage) is -115 dB.

Interestingly, I find the antenna is actually improved, because previously with iPhone 3GS on Digi and Maxis at a KLCC shop when inside the shop and storeroom virtually no signal goes through. Non-DeathGrip, the iPhone 4 can hold 1 bar at 3G mode and receive SMS, calls, download 3G data in most cases.

What I have found more or less confirms the investigations done at Anandtech: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3794/the-iphone-4-review/2

So, in summary, I advise, if you are regularly in places where you have 3-5 bars in 3G or 2G, whichever you usually use, then DeathGrip may not be a problem.

However, I imagine, for most of us this is not always the experience.

So a case, like Anandtech shows, should only cause DeathGrip signal loss by -10 dB max which should solve most problems.

Thus, to cut a long story short, you should get a case. If you are on Digi do follow the instructions here to try to claim your free case. Good luck smile.gif

Added on October 7, 2010, 9:08 amHopefully there will be no problems with my case, and the process of my uncle sending it from Singapore to here by registered mail.

I think the improvement (besides protection and prevention of scratches) will be where I experience the sudden signal reduction, which is when I hold it in my left hand to do 3G data stuff.

Also the case may help when I use the phone in my right hand when talking, so I won't "accidentally" touch the sensitive spot which maybe, maybe, will reduce call quality.

Will you still see the metal band from the front?
coz I am not sure my unit have visible metal band from the front, not sure cause by the case itself or cause by 3M carbon sticker I stick behind.

Hey there... Using InCase Snap Smoke, when viewing the front, I can only see the chrome of the top and bottom metal band.

Hi only screen protectors stuck on phone - PowerSupport AntiGlare on front, PowerSupport clear on back

Photos attached of the InCase Snap Smoke on iPhone 4, should answer your questions. smile.gif

For others reading, the back side of the case actually is a little more transparent than in the photo.
See the online reviews of it for clearer pics and video of the case.

Sigh... might wana sell off the incase  snap case already,
or else peel off the 3M carbon sticker...
hard to choose to do which one...

Tough choice. I would use the Incase though, protect from falls, etc.

I have help those that have no way to re-route their bumper case to Msia at a minimum cost. I've send almost 20 bumpers case to Msia since last week. This is a bumper case thread, to help iPhone4 users claim their free bumper case, so why can't i offer my service here ? If you have a better alternative or methods i'm sure we all like to hear about it.  smile.gif
*
In general I support your intention, maybe also you can have like a "successful bumper claims" list in your sig so people are more aware? Just an idea. Positive feedback / success stories will further your cause.

Added on October 20, 2010, 10:39 pmI think everyone should continue to claim their free case if possible, assuming it is genuinely bought before Sep 30. Maxis and Digi what happened to you *sigh* ?!!

One thing I found is the case has quite a tight fit... Putting it on is okay, however taking it off seems a bit tough, I will just leave it on for now, don't want to kacau it too much at this stage. Overall happy with it.

Like mentioned above, the InCase Snap Smoke is a bit tight to fit it. Also, it seems not a 100% fit, if view from top of screen, can see slightly visible silver metal part (the side-antenna)

If view from bottom (the mic/speaker/charger port), the case supposed to fit perfectly like U shape. But now it is a bit V shape.

A bit dissapointed with USD34.95 product, even though it is free. The non-branded clear case (similiar like InCase Clear Snap Case) I get from LYP ~RM30 fits better than it.
doh.gif

Strange, mine fits fine, I even have screen protector on the back. Press it a bit harder? flex.gif blink.gif
I like mine... Putting it on is okay, taking it off could be a little tricky though.

If you have stick something back on your phone, it will affect as well...
Thats why my case is still intact in the sealed box,
coz I have tried with my friend snap case...
Haven't decide to sell off this good case though...
*
Unless you stick anything thicker than normal back glass screen protector, I think it should fit fine.

Your phone has something thicker (carbon thingy) so yeah, it may not fit, as we know.

But for cute_boboi ... I think just press a little harder and it will "click" on the sides to cover the metal part...
Unless it is a defective case.
