Aztech WL552USB is cheap now, I believe many people have got it, some Windows 7 users may facing same problem as me,

Problems
-Detects the radio type of the wireless n network incorrectly
-Couldn't connect to / failed to connect a wireless network that detected in range.
-Frequently disconnection even after successful connected
-Sometimes connected, but no internet access
-Couldn't assign an ip address or using manual configured ip address

Driver from Aztech website v1.0 or from Driver Disc which is only compatible for Windows XP, Windows Vista, does not support Windows 7,
- Detected correct wireless n network, but still unable to connect same as problems above

Here's the WL552USB Ralink drivers for Windows 7:

Ralink - Network - 802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/sit...link%20wireless

Drivers download for Windows 7 32bit and 64bit (Ralink Wireless N USB Adapter Driver v3.1.0.0)

Windows 7 32bit
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IJOWJNDF

Windows 7 64bit
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N8FS6RNN

Ralink chipset driver for Windows can be downloaded at http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=1
Thanks cshong for the link

Installation:

Extract files from the *.cab file you have downloaded to a new folder, I use WinRAR,

Plug in your Aztech WL552USB, go Device Manager (Right click "Computer" -> "Manager" -> "Device Manager")

under "Network Adapters" tree, choose "802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card"

right click it, select "Update driver software", then select "Browse my computer for driver software"

then browse the folder where you extract the driver files to, click "Next",

now it should be updated, you Aztech WL552USB is now working like it should be.

You can also obtain this driver by plug in your WL552USB, and go check for windows update, under Optional Updates section, current version is v3.0.7.0
I recommend you to get it from the megaupload links above or from catalog.update.microsoft.com for latest v3.1.0.0

that website kinda odd, you need to find the right one and click add,

then later go checkout to begin download "microsoft's build in download manager"

for easier way, just get it from megaupload links smile.gif

try uninstall it by right click "802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card" at device manager

tick "uninstall driver software" to completely remove the older driver leftover for the adapter

then replug ur aztech wl552, it will ask for driver, then follow instruction again, see if it works

now im still using WL552 in windows 7 64bit, working fine though smile.gif

sometimes by using "Update" problem may still remain due to leftover of previous installed driver for some reason

you can do as what swhung said, it's better way

plug on ur wireless adapter, uninstall your Wireless USB Adapter driver from device manager also tick "uninstall driver software" at Device Manager

after uninstalled it, re plug your usb adapter, it should now ask for driver instead of automatically installed itself,

then browse the new driver files to install, after that , it should work fine.

the driver cd provided by Aztech only for Windows XP and Vista, doesnt work on Win 7

even the Win7 itself has the driver for Aztech, but it's bugged, you will have the problems like my thread described

use newer Ralink drivers instead

No need to actually use Microsoft Update. Go google what chipset modem does your wireless card use. Then, go to the website of the chipset manufacturer to download the driver.

According to Google Search, Aztech WL552USB use rt2870 chipset. Correct me if I am wrong.

Ralink chipset driver for Windows can be downloaded at http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=1

Aztech is so lazy to update the driver hosted on their site.

Hi, I am using driver version 2.3.1.0 and it is working fine (dated 3-3-2009) .
I have it quite sometimes ago, before Windows 7 SP1 I think.
It could be the native Windows 7 driver (which may be from Vista also). But I don't have vista PC before.

It could be the latest version did not work instead.
Attached the driver. Pls try to update from it.
