unlike that guy. my phone only went blank if i enter the recovery mode
then i have to take out the battery n restart
then the phone works like normal.
i can install app dats need to be rooted
i just cant install custom ROM

probably because theres no proper root for hboot 0.83 yet. try searching around XDA. seems like lots of others have the same problem as you do. good luck with it

I believe all the new stock will be equipped with SLCD

I don't think so..As mine shows a slight pink tint on grey colors..Unless this happens on SLCD also, then mine is AMOLED..

Easiest is refer to you box.

Addon : Most 2.1 user reported that once they upgraded to official Froyo, pink tint gone. I can say most probably due to color calibration on Eclair
Mine gone too once I'm on Froyo.

I just called few distributors in KL, such as fresh gears, PDA expert, Asia mobile.

They couldn't confirmed whether the new stock is SLCD or AMOLED, because the box doesn't mention anything now.

It seems u only judging by ur naked eyes?

Old batch box stated it CLEARLY.
If didn't state, 90% SLCD.

Box din write..I'm just judging based on the pink tint which I thought was a problem with AMOLED screens..I bought from pdaexpert that guy told me its AMOLED still so I'm not sure..

as for the pink tint on grey colors...
after updating mine to official 2.2.. the pink tint does not show on the htc site UNLESS when u try to scroll, the pink tint will appear awhile...
It's funny but at least it looks nicer now

Not on mine. Pink tint is still there when i surf the HTC website.

Btw, to confirm whether yours is SLCD or AMOLED, this is the description on my box. If its without the AMOLED word, pretty sure its going to be SLCD.

Actually i read sumwhere the pink tint is an AMOLED issue not software issue..Its due to the grey scale which is near the pink so the amoled displays a slight pinkish tint when trying to display grey (or something like that)

I can 90% sure that yous is SLCD. See my box below

Hmm maybe la..But nevermind la coz I never see AMOLED before and I find this very clear and nice the colors lol..

BTW anyone using matte screen protectors? I heard it dulls the display..wana get it but scared sacrifice too much of the display lol...Any opinion? I'm using the clear one now but seems like kinda dirty(fingerprints and smudges)..

Using matte and it really helps out in terms of fingerprint and oilyness. However, i dont really like it. Felt that its dims the display Gonna switch to gloss SP when it arrives and do a comparison

I have compared both Amoled and SLCD-screens on HTC and sadly I have to say, that the SLCD is a poor substitute for Amoled…
The blacks are grey and the overall contrast of the SLCD screen is worse. The screen just misses that WOW-factor you get from Amoled. So no SLCD for me.
Those screen comparison videos we have seen by far are totally pointless – they all have been filmed under bright lighting, the situation changes dramatically on low light conditions:

Guys.. finally manage to root my phone & install froyo.. need to ask sumthin..

Err.. how do u push apps to SD? I already partition the memory card into ext3 (512MB) and swap (0MB) using Rom Manager...

When I go to setting, the option to move file to SD is disabled.. or everything now in Froyo automatically save to SD is it?

I don't need any partition to move my apps there

To those using SLCD desire, be careful when rooting ur set and read more before doing. It appears that the SLCD driver is not the same as the previous amoled so u might be getting a blank display. Some reporting they managed to recover back by installing back stock via RUU in fastboot and the display went back on again after that.
