Storm of the Imperial Sanctum revisits the "Aeon of Strife" architecture from StarCraft, and mixes it up with Defense of the Ancients.

The map emplys the use of mercenaries, and has a combat system which revolves around the three unit types Armored, Psionic and Biological.

Map creator Ekcolnovkol has the map up on the Asia, US and European servers. Check out these two videos here if you are still doubting whether to try it or not.

But Aeon Strife was what influence the Dota craze, so this isn't something new.

As for killing SC2....well who knows...248 for a version of dota with better graphics...slightly differnt gameplay mechanics.

its not really dota since u need to micro ur army (u do buy army and they do outperform items) and good micro of ur army win u games...
during beta P2, i tried this and was 17-3 using a ghost which my opponent ask me how the hell i can take so much kills with a low damage hero...

because they anti dota.. tat's it.

the authors only publish them on bnet so u cant download it...

From mod developer point of view, it's a good shot to propel towards success with the new B.net system, just image you mod a game and sell it on B.net at 1USD per user, currently the SC2 mod devs are trying to catch their player base with their mods.

Finally managed to watch the trailer / gameplay videos, looks promising.

wont be popular around dotards: -
1. no LAN thus cant be pirated LOL
2. micro intensive of multiple units (over only 1 hero for dota LOL)

Sad case for them.

there's experience system...
UMS like resurgence tower defense, lunar special forces etc have been using it...
same goes wit SOTIS...

wutever the war3 editor can do, the galaxy editor of SC2 can do and even better...

here once a thread for starcraft in fantasy medieval times and somehow the main thread had been replaced by threads like 'who's the best 1v1 hero', 'how to become pro?', '<insert item here> is imba' that trolls delighted to jump in and start their 'flame and blame' games in those threads

leaving the forum aside and to the game itself: if you managed to log into battlenet with warcraft3, you'll see 90% out of 80% custom maps listed there are that particular custom map

certainly there are some people who had the urge to port this custom map to SC2 and change 'Ancients' word to 'Astriods' (or something techie that starts with 'A') to suit the futuristic space fantasy theme

seeing that *ahem* ware sprung hours after release and there will be certain group of people make SC2 playable thru LAN for their own interest; sooner or later this SC2 section would be flooded by beng-bengs who starts to ask brainless questions like 'which hero is stronger?', 'me and my leet skill replay' and turns into another ugly mess like how warcraft3 thread now.

C'mon guys, SC 2 is still in its infancy; there's no need to start antagonizing a DotA-like that's appearing.

DotA didn't "kill" Warcraft 3. Warcraft 3, for all intents and purposes, was pretty much dead in the water (The Koreans stuck to Starcraft (Whom were the main targets for this) and the rest of the world didn't fancy a "war" game that allowed you control of an average of 20 units at once). DotA merely used Warcraft 3 as a platform to be where it is now.

If Starcraft 2 is as strong a game as Starcraft was, then you anti-DotA fans will have nothing to worry about since, believe it or not, more than one community can exist within the same network.

Can we please just get along and keep all the "anti/pro-DotA" rhetoric out of here? I was hoping this place wouldn't need constant moderation so early in its expected long life.

Wouldn't worry bout it if I were you. And besides SotIS seems to have diverted from the stereotype and introduced mercs and whatnot. Bengs don't like change, bengs like what's imba and what they can conform to. Reiterating this again : They won't buy the game, let them enjoy their uhh..LAN play or whatever they want on some ahoy matey version (when it happens, only a matter of time). I, in the mean time, will enjoy battle.net free of such uncivilized people.

can't wait to see what develops within the next half year....a lot more map devs hopefully will churn out loads of custom maps

the current custom maps are pretty ok-ish, standard stuff like TD, USF marine sumthin (upgraded version of starship trooper like map in WC3) etc. still , pretty good stuff and I can't wait for a DOTA-like to come out

honestly i never get whats the whole "dota killed war3 deal"
but maybe thats cuz of me playing US east server and i still play ladder games regardless of whenever i play war3.

and quite honestly, it isnt even "dota" doing all this, mess to say the least. its the people (trollan or not) that caused this. hell, i even loved dota to bits when it was still maintained by EUL (who here still remembers him? lol i even remember his lich avatar, was so rare back then)

hohoho i still remember the original DOTA (non all stars) made by Eul.

i consider it a life saver for me as back in first half of year 2003 i was heart broken due to girl issue.

kept playing DOTA (original, by Eul, all stars belum keluar lagi) every day and i recovered liao.

I just wanted to point out that these "dotards" aren't just exclusive to pirated Warcraft 3 servers. Bnet has its fair share as well.

well, hey, i use to host "msia / sg players only" dota all stars games on US West / US East myself yo.

erm, i used a software, i think called wc3 ban list to check ping and all etc.

made sure everyone ping <100ms before start game.

with myself hosting, i enjoice lag free game!

also, i can rage quit anytime i want. hohohohoho.

Why? The two games play very differently. Its not like you *need* to know how to play Warcraft 3 before you want to play Dota.

Yeah Geminus.Boros (was it?) and Tiberus.Rancor are gg. Easiest to play being the former. Just stock up on regen and spam shields to farm lol.

Tried it for the first time. It was not bad though quite confusing as I struggle quite some time to wonder where to find my inventory list whereby I couldn't buy items anymore as my inventory is full.

Wanna ask are the shortcut keys for inventory available for we to click them to use the skills?

feels like playing heroes of newerth all over again, need some time getting used to it.

from my experience: -
- whiners
- leaver after dying
- verbal harassment from teammates and opponent

and they are definitely msia/sg players from their "la" etc...
i feel ashamed to be a msian

not too different from the american scene. maybe just a bit better, but still quite the same

very different from the beta scene...
funny how one of my teammate was called a nub and harassed the entire match for tanking some damage to get kills...

and ya the leavers LOL...
never had i experienced a game with no leavers...

hmmm let's see now.

i played the "juggernaut (with omnislash) hero" yesterday.


game was 5 vs 5, but the loading time was so slow, it was 4 vs 5 as one of our team mates dropped / left before the match even started.

after a while, it became 3 vs 5.

but we played on and in the end all 5 players of the opposing team slowly left, one by one.

from 3 vs 5 to 3 vs 4, 3 vs 3 and the remaining 3 all quit together after our heroes kicked their arses real hard.


my 2 remaining team mates are okay, well mannered and we had some team work, did not b**** / whine when one got killed so the other can get a kill, etc.

the bad ones dropped off

one game it was 5v5 down all the way to 1 v 2
ppl jz leave when they are on a dying streak despite the number advantage...

makes me reluctant to kill sometimes and just creep. cuz i kill, they quit

lol that's wut i do...
i jz keep farming...

a guy tried to kill me and i just keep kiting him till he died to my marines LOL
