^ Didn't word that out properly.
The act of cutting their hair itself is what I dislike. I have no quarrel on how they look, but it felt so unreal and fake to me. This post has been edited by missingNo: Mar 20 2012, 01:54 AM |

QUOTE(missingNo @ Mar 20 2012, 01:50 AM) ^ Didn't word that out properly. Both Hanekawaa and hitagi cut their hair as a symbol of starting a new chapyer in their life. Hanekawa acknowledging her problems with her family and dealing with it and Hitagi being finally able to forget about Kaiki and give herself fully to Araragi. It's a symbolic gesture that is prevalent in Japanese literature and something that Nisio Isin like to use to easily tell the readers the characther has changedThe act of cutting their hair itself is what I dislike. I have no quarrel on how they look, but it felt so unreal and fake to me. |

The whole 'hair cutting' thing for women is prevalent everywhere, though it is actually started by whites (i'm a woman hear me roar etc.). Hair (especially long ones) is a precious thing to women. To cut it off has great meaning, regardless of the culture.

But what I was saying was Nisio Isin used this as a simple way to show that the character has changed personality. Hanekawa is more open after she faced her demons and is much more sadistic in a way. Hitagi finally able to give her all to Araragi and changed back to her original persona, a happy and friendly girl without much of that sarcastic tongue. Karen realised her views on justice is quite naive and is now willing to hear suggestions from other people before taking action. |
