Try to look how well the sales of BluRays and DVDs of anime at Japan. Since this is the category of 'late night anime', Bakemonogatari is on the top with 44,000 copies sold on the release day compared to 41,000 of K-On! surprised the hell outta me, seriously. id think each 'mioismaiwaifu' tard would buy 10 copies at least for god knows what reasons. and that alone should rake sales results. apparently i thought wrong. Well, I guess statistics is the best way to shove those facts down their throats. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(unsafe_source @ Oct 9 2009, 07:39 AM) Dengeki readers were surveyed as to which anime they thought the best of summer 2009, yielding results which in retrospect are not entirely surprising.
However, when their most anticipated summer anime are compared to the most well received after the fact, the results are quite interesting…
Firstly, these are the most anticipated series prior to the start of the summer season:
1. Spice and Wolf II
2. Umineko no Naku Koro ni
3. Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
4. Bakemonogatari
5. Canaan
6. Taisho Yakyuu Musume
7. GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class
8. Kanamemo
9. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
10. Umimonogatari
And these are the most highly rated after the finish of the season:
1. Bakemonogatari
2. Saki
3. Fullmetal Alchemist
4. Canaan
5. Umineko no Naku Koro ni
6. Valkyria Chronicles
8. Dragonball KAI
9. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
10. Requiem for the Phantom
Dengeki readers will not be winning any awards for punditry it seems; 5 of the anime remained in the list, but all the top spots were upsets and a number of the most anticipated sunk without trace… » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(unsafe_source @ Oct 1 2009, 01:39 PM) 2ch-ologists have delivered their verdict on which of 2009 summer anime attracted the most attention from 2ch’s otaku community and the sites surrounding it.
The executive digest ranking, based on overall score:
1. Bakemonogatari
2. Saki
3. Taishou Yakyuu Musume
4. Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
5. Sora no Manimani
6. Aoi Hana
7. Wolf and Spice II
8. Haruhi
9. Hayate no Gotoku
10. GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class
The results in full take in the relative performance (in terms of thread activity and polling) of each title on the sprawling complex of anime related boards on 2ch, as well as supplementary factors such as Amazon rank, Mixi connections, blog hits and so on. QUOTE(Mokuton @ Oct 12 2009, 02:16 AM) i started today and watched ep 12 5-6 hours ago. its good! xD is it really going to finish at ep15? Yup..it will finish at ep15. The last 3 episodes will be streamed on official website. Ep13 will be on 28th Oct *cross fingers* Argh..i really miss Senjougahara and Araragi. Can't wait to see their interaction. Even Kyon and Haruhi's relationship is not as interesting as theirs. I can foresee Haruhi series being surpassed by Bakemonogatari. You should have expected this, Kyoani, since you decided to do Endless 8.

Woot! How many of you guys have ordered yourself one? QUOTE(unsafe_source @ Oct 14 2009, 09:32 PM) The first volume of Bakemonogatari has gone on to sell an astonishing 56,000 copies in two weeks, the lion’s share in Blu-ray format. The sales of the series have now beaten every other TV anime save various generic giant robot anime, crushing Haruhi and K-ON! completely, and with even more sales likely sales of 60-70,000 seem quite possible. All this for an anime which was broadcast with whole scenes missing due to the rather extreme production schedule Shaft seems to enjoy…
