I suggest you to send it back to check. Should be warm and not hot. Power plug detach? The 3 pin plug or to your router?
*
Hi flowerhorn,

The plug to the router. It will detach if I flip a number of times to check the lan cable etc.

Sorry, the router is not hot as said, but warmer, like those modem for streamyx BB.

But the Dlink DIR-615 supplied by TM unifi, the warm is at acceptable level.

Thanks.

I got the Asus RT-N66U. Pretty impressive.
Attached Image

File transfer rate
PC LAN wired > N66u > Laptop Wireless N (Intel 5300AGN)
Average 18MB ~ 19MB/s (almost the same speed as USB 2.0)

Warm should be fine. U don experience disconnect right? But if the wire is not cought with anything when you flip it and it detach then something wrong. Anyway it has 3 yrs warranty. But if u bought it like 1 week ago quickly bring back to check. If got problem then try ask for a new unit replacement.

Would do justice or respect for this monster router if TM offer 100mbps or more internet speeds brows.gif

Too bad it is a little out of my budget sad.gif

Aiyo... when will n56U get a firmware upgrade with new UI???

I'm sure the hardware is more than capable to support more functions.

Does the ASUS RT-N66U comes with Unifi support out of the box? Or needs an update or custom firmware?

Or will the standard Firmware Version 3.0.0.3.108 have Unifi support?

Looking to upgrade from the standard nonsense overheating TM router..

Many thanks.

I also notice that they are now supplying their own TM modems as well as their own routers.. what a waste of money for them to be creating their own products..

1.0.1.7f same issue. i guess no one reading here try the n56u together with another repeater?

Hey flowerhorn,

I have the N56U and I am currently using it with 2 x N13U repeaters.

I am also having stability issues with it, where after a few days when connected via the repeaters things would be unstable, slow etc.

I notice when I reset the repeaters, it'll work well again, until a few days later.

Now, for my ultimate GOSU solution. I got one of those timer plugs from any hardware shop, and set it to switch off the repeater for 15 minutes every night at around 5am.

Since then, no issues for me since it's getting it's daily reset.

The ASUS RT-N66U comes with Unifi support out of the box. Recommended to upgrade the firmware to the latest 3.0.0.3.108.
The USB ports on N66U can to stream 1080p movies without any problem as it can almost max up the 100Mbps LAN. Tested using Samsung Smart TV DLNA / build-in media player & Acryan.

hi guys, just wondering if the RT-N66U worth the price for me if im just a torrent user (24hours download/upload) and gamer? i dont really do much file transfering in the house via the wifi as most of the rooms already installed with cat6 cable. im still using the normal DIR-615 router comes with TM and im curious to know what kind of benefits / experience i can get from this rm600+ router. Thanks alot!

I believe N16 has better wi-fi performance.
Stability wise... the N16 for me has been pretty much rock solid stable, just dropped connection once since I got it 3 weeks ago and I have not turned it off for more than 4 or 5 times.

Armageddon, I didn't try the printer sharing support on the Asus router. Try to download Utility supports MFP (Multi-function Peripheral, MFP or All-in-One Printer) for win XP / win Vista / win 7

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLan...T-N56U&p=11&s=2

or this :
direct link i got from N66u
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/...WRT/Printer.zip

ryori, as far as I know, only c-zone lowyat have the RT-N66u in-stock.

does any1 encounter issues of auto detecting adsl modem settings? I just come across that. Tried several brands of modems which share the same results(weird gateway ip: 1.1.1.1). I solved it via manually input the wan settings which took me 2 hrs to figure out.. ><

The firmware from the asus webpage is in zip files. Unzip the file you will get .trx. Login to the router upgrade firmware section & you are good to go.
