Hi ASUSmy,

I just bought ASUS Wireless Router RT-N12HP_B1 and to my surprise it works on my MAXIS IPTV without much settings needed, just select the profile during setup and it connects. I'm on firmware 3.0.0.4.380_3479.

Was wondering why I still see threads that you mention Maxis Astro IPTV still not supported?

Hi gunblade83,

Maybe you can try to use it for few days and see whether you have problem streaming or not.

Thank you

Hi lanux128,

When you choose UNIFI-Home at our router, the LAN 4 port will be reserve for the hypptv. So just plug in the LAN cable between the LAN port 4 and the STB box and you are done.

Thank you

Can I switch the LAN 4 port into normal internet port with Unifi subscription? I don't use HyppTV anymore. I'm using Asus N series router.

Hi, I'm in 3-storey terrace with UNIFI advance plan. The terminal, modem and router are located at the highest floor.
So the WIFi signal on the ground and middle floor is very limited.

I'm planning to change the router to Asus RT-AC55U or RT-AC68U, wonder if it help?
Please advise.

Hi Neo_Y,

If your current UNIFI router is dual band router and it is unable to reach the ground floor, both the models you mention may not improve much.

Maybe you can considering adding AP(first choice), repeater(second choice) or wall plug if your house only has one power phase.

For AC router which has repeater function, you can have a look at RT-AC1300UHP(new model), RT-AC66U or RT-AC68U.

Thank you

My current router is RG-MARITIME-TRG212M, it is a dual band router? Can't find the specification on the net.
So my choice could be buy another dual band AC router and use the TRG212M as wireless access point.
People suggest to connect both router and AP with LAN cable, I'm thinking to only wireless bridge for simplicity, wonder how the performance different between these two methods.
Thanks for advice.

Hi kevinchlee,

The setup is just same with UNIFI but you no need to choose the ISP Profile. Just select PPPoE and key in the user name and password.

Thank you

Hi takr,

Do you mean the plastic cover that wrap the screw or the steel screw?

If it is the plastic cover, the antenna are still usable. You still can tighten up the antenna using the steel screw.

Thank you

Same to my house 3 storey.
My router was terminated at second floor instead of third floor.
Then Wifi signal on the ground floor and the third floor at good coverage include my SmartTV at Ground floor connect to WiFI excellence speed in term of streaming.

Hi there, I would like to ask opinion on a very old router. Does anyone believe that RT-N66U is good enough for HD streaming from WiFi Home Media Server? Currently using RT-N12HP with no problems for normal internet browsing and content consumption. But facing problems with streaming from wireless media server.
The N66U has a processor which is twice as fast as the N12HP and 128Mb of Flash instead of 8Mb on the N12HP.

My second option is to go base model Linksys Router which is EA6400 with AC wireless. Anyone knows if this support VLAN tagging for unifi?

Update the firmware and there should be a Maxis mode settings on the IPTV tab. Otherwise, just manually tag VLAN 621 for Maxis.
