OK, here's the thing. I am a SPM student this year. I'm really worried about the relevance of KOKO for IPTA, and I have to make decisions so I don't regret in the future. Here's a brief record of my jawatan/etc that can contribute to KOKO marks :

1. I am a PRS.
2. I am an AJK kelab this year, form 4 I was Penolong Setiausaha of one of my clubs.
3. I attend KOKO fairly regularly, though I admit that I might have missed quite a number of days for PBSM, as the meetings fluctuated - sometimes got, sometimes they call if off, sometimes I can't come, etc. I may have missed a total of 4-6 days for PBSM. I am active in my kelab and persatuan, entering about two school competitions, but silly ones that might not be important at all. I am regular for Permainan.
4. I have not entered debates, or anything like interschool championships, district, kebangsaan etc. Only 2 essay competitions.
5. I was not active during Form 4.

Recently, I have received entry for PLKN (don't know what batch). I am debating whether to enter PLKN and get full KOKO points, or duck out as I may have Foundation studies next year.

My question for KOKO is :

1)What is the relevance of KOKO? Is it too late for me? Is it a MUST to have a perfect record to enter IPTA?

2)What can I do to boost my KOKO marks? What activities can I do? Considering my KOKO record above. Please be a bit specific.

3)Should I go to PLKN, considering my rather low KOKO record/activities? I must consider Foundation, though.

4)Are both Form 4 or Form 5 KOKO marks are counted together? Jawatan during Form 4 and Form 5 together also? Or just one of the Forms?

5)If SPM results are not good, will they consider KOKO?

UNIVERSITY QUESTIONS

1. I wanna be a doctor. After SPM, what is the next best step? Matriculation or Foundation of Science?

2. Generally, what is the best SPM result for the next step? Is 10 A's good enough?

3. Are KOKO marks important to enter Matriculation/Foundation of Science and university?

4. Are there KOKO activities during Matriculation time?

Sorry if I placed the thread in the wrong place, or asked the wrong questions. Please forgive me. I need an urgent answer as I'm sending my surat rayuan for deferring PLKN in a few days, and I need to make the right choice. Please help, and thanks very, very, very much in advance. I really appreciate your kind help.

No, it's not too late for you and if u want to enter IPTA, u still got form6 or matriculation. so it should be fine.

2)What can I do to boost my KOKO marks? What activities can I do? Considering my KOKO record above. Please be a bit specific.
attend as much as u can? lol, i not sure about this.

3)Should I go to PLKN, considering my rather low KOKO record/activities? I must consider Foundation, though.
PLKN is worth going according to my friends. before going all cry dowan go, when they came back they bli bla say want to go back etc

4)Are both Form 4 or Form 5 KOKO marks are counted together? Jawatan during Form 4 and Form 5 together also? Or just one of the Forms?
If i am not mistaken, during form5 we count everything together. form 4 and form 5, we got a attendance book right?

5)If SPM results are not good, will they consider KOKO?
not sure.

UNIVERSITY QUESTIONS

1. I wanna be a doctor. After SPM, what is the next best step? Matriculation or Foundation of Science?
If got money then go for foundation of science. my cousin went to matric and she said its waste of time. she'd rather go for ipts

2. Generally, what is the best SPM result for the next step? Is 10 A's good enough?
good enough d laa, it's straight A's already right?

3. Are KOKO marks important to enter Matriculation/Foundation of Science and university?
KOKO marks ONLY important for IPTA, matriculation. Foundation of science noneed. IPTS wont bother about ur KOKO

he/she meant foundation is very easy. actually foundation is simple, like he/she said what u learn in foundation is very basic. so when you enter your degree, you will cry because degree level is tough. well, it's common right sweat.gif unless u want go for diploma then degree.

EDIT - still got alevel u can go for. alevel is tough sigh -.-

actually sweat.gif what we learn in pre-u not really related to our degree? at least foundation better than form 6. we get to learn something related to our course better than learn nothing from the course. alevel ok la, at least still get to know something about the course we are taking (some subjects and myself just ended my alevel) form 6 jump to degree harder to learn than foundation jump to degree IMO tongue.gif

what do you mean the things you learn at form 6 doesn't apply at your degree? hmm.gif

unless u take science during F6 and jumped to arts in degree.

the syallabus in a levels & form 6 have not much in difference.

foundation, on the other hand, the things you learn are rather shallow and not in detailed.

ok, my friend took form6 and she planned to do Hospitality or something related to that course. she said, first its in malay, second its totally unrelated, not like they are teaching wine, foods bla bla etc. i dunno about foundation but my friends told me that foundation helps degree abit, at least it got intro something related to the degree course that he is going to take. like MMU foundation in engineering/it or what i forgot -> degree IT, engineering etc. related right? i hope u get what i mean

you sound a bit like me lol..
1. my PBSM attendance was fairly ok..i went to the meeting but never held any poitions or anything.
2.i was an interact club member and was holding a vice-secretary spot.
3. i was a school prefect.
4. i entered a few essay writing competitions.
5 i took the new south wales english exam and got credit (it doesn't count towards your koko marks)
6. i have went for plkn

for your koko questions:
1 & 2.i don't think its too late for you..if there are any activities being held by other clubs try entering that.look out for competitions like quizzes and such. when you aplly for IPTA online they will ask for your KOKO marks.so it's good to have a good grade in your koko.

3.when i went to PLKN all they gave me was a cheap certificate and nothing else.so when i was filling up the IPTA application after finishing my training i had nothing to show that i actually went to plkn. they did not give me any marks or anything that can be used to fill in the plkn section on the form..try asking your teachers about the marks, and how plkn can help when applying for IPTA when you dont get marks after going through training.

4. they count koko marks for all 5 years of your secondary school.they have a system on how to count marks.you should be getting a buku penialaian kokorikulum from your school so that you can keep track of your marks.

5.i'm not sure about this.i did quite ok in SPM and yet i did not get a place in IPTA.i don't know what factor made me not get a place in IPTA..u.u

uni questions:

1 & 2. im not sure about this since i'm not taking medic..good grades can only bring you so far.it depends on luck as well.

3 &4.i dont know..sad.gif im not in matrics.
