I'm using the USB dongle and I'm not sure if there are any custom software/firmware that could change those information. I'm new to wireless broadband (always with Streamyx but now totally sick of it) so I was thinking if it's possible to get 3rd party modems? I can't believe that by using this wireless 4G, I get better latency in my COD Black Ops compared to Streamyx which is WIRED.

See how much our Streamyx fails but still not doing anything about it!

if you found 1, please share with me, ok?

i think you got it wrong. lower latency is better..
im at work at the moment. i can test the dl speed later at home for you.

this speed is not from ytl by the way. im renting a place in singapore because of work. that is the speed of singtel's fibre connection.

i'm only using 2mbps connection in johor bahru.

me too, at first i entered the number outside the box the MAC number, but a few days after I saw YES reply in Twitter you have to enter the one inside the white case 1, the one which contains your dongle: the SN starts from YES ..... something
*
thanks bro! i also faced this failed to verify warranty! I had mailed them, but seem my mail never reach them! Most will think the mac number is sn number, because my receipt also write sn = mac number, damn shit! they seem not enough people to support huge complaint from email?

This seem common problems, they should include a small picture, tell people where to find the sn number, from this small problems, can see they are not fully prepare yet... sweat.gif

where to find your sn number?

weak signal indoor....my solution is locate the GO dongle near window and i can get 4 bars near the window.
I don't know whether you can use a USB cable to extend it to window...last time try it on 3G HSPDA modem and it couldn't work.
What i did is cut the USB cable (there are 4 tiny wire inside)
and use 4 parallel coaxial cable, did a bit soldering and this replace that 4 tiny wire. This way i can have a longer USB extension cable and it works perfectly well.

this seem strange, is it usb extension not work for you? or u plan a 20meter length cable or more?

I will not use YES until there are wimax router available at a reasonable price.
Because with a router, i can put in a hardware firewall.

Without a hardware firewall between the modem and Windows operating system, my computer could infected with Malware/Trojan anytime and become a Zombie compurter anytime.
*
bro, without hardware firewall, u dunwan online?

u wait after alot of people jump ship you will be slowed down also, then we'll see if the company at like tm or not...
*
i think when more people come in, they need improve the bandwidth to feed so many people, if not, someday it may become like tm. but 1 things diffrent is pay as you use, tm didin't apply this rules, means you pay rm88, you can use 1gb, 2gb,10gb or even more... this is seem cheap for user, but this is nightmare for isp, since they only earn your monthly rm88, but you use more than you pay, every1 use the line 24 hours, every1 BT. how much the bandwidth need to feed so many user on9? this method seem not work, so pay as you use will be the trend of broadband, just like water and electric we use. Pay as you use, pay less if you use less, pay more if you use more...this is fair for everyone user.

QUOTE(Forum-Modding Newb @ Dec 24 2010, 01:59 AM)
You're right. That's why you can't compare a RM88/month landline with a mobile wireless broadband line like Yes. Unifi's VIP5 which is at RM149/month with a 2 year commitment which adds up to RM3,576 + RM200 installation, and had an initial download cap of 60GB/month. So RM3,776 is the entry TCO (total cost of ownership) of the VIP5 line.

Compare that with a much lower entry level of Yes due to no contract, with a different usage pattern because it is mobile (when you come out of the house you're supposed to be doing something, not downloading large files like a madman/woman). Sure, RM3,776 will get you only around 177GB on Yes but you then have to cost in the premium of

1. mobility
2. no contract
3. the ability to login using one account on multiple devices at multiple locations (1 Yes ID can login to 3 Huddles concurrently)

how much of a premium would you pay for the 3 features above? Additional 20%? 30%? It's even more dude, when you consider a fixed line call is approximately 4 sen/min and a mobile line call is around 12 sen, that's a x3 premium right there just for mobility!

Simple example, you compare personal loan with credit card. Personal loan can give you larger loan amount, lower interest, etc. because they know for the next 20 years you're stuck with them. Credit card limit is low, interest is crazy high, but it's a lot easier entry level and you can potong the card anytime. Same thing, Unifi is like personal/housing loan, Yes is like credit card in theory. Different usage totally, you don't hear people say "damn I don't get a credit card because personal loan give me more money with lower interest!", isn't it? biggrin.gif

And by the way, 4GB on Yes is RM82 only not RM120. I think that's one of the weaknesses of YTL's pricing structure, and specifically the cube. People look at it and make a mental calculation: download 10GB = RM300! When it's only RM210, which is a big difference imho. I don't like the concept of the cube at all, I foresee when they want to come up with new packages they will need to design a new cube, because the cube only got 2 sidefaces, which severely limits innovative pricing plans. No point putting their blue cube there but then all the important info like new promotion or additional rebate is a block of text which doesn't appear in the adverts.

The cube doesn't show the rebate portion which is very important.
*
good opinion! credit card vs personal loan theory! haha

QUOTE(nonameNo @ Dec 27 2010, 10:06 PM)
May I ask some question before getting it.

1. As stated, minimum usage is RM30 per month. Are they going to send us a bill or by eletronic email format?
2. For data usage, if using >3GB, there are rebate for it. How they going to calculate it? By monthly basis?
3. I read someone using it and immediately deduct the top up after using >150MB. Doesnt they count the total usage for the month and deduct accordingly?

As far as I know, we need to have minimum prepaid amount. Once the amount reach to zero or negative value, YES will cease the usage until we paid up? How long are the grace period before we reactivate it back?

Sorry for asking so many question as these will help me to decide whether to proceed with YES or not. Thanks.
*
1. i think u miss understand, this is payu(pay as you use), not postpaid. did you get any bill, if you use prepaid instead of postpaid in your phone plan? you only need top up, just like prepaid(phone). no need to go to pay bill.

2. i was told by yes, they will rebate at next month.

3. yes, but i dunno is it 150mb or not, because i didn't check my balance every minutes. But everyday i log in, i see my credit was deduct.

4. yes, minimun rm30 monthly, once reach 0, after 3 month your will lose your account die.

So... Does that mean I can call and send SMS through my iPod Touch 4? I really don't understand how this works. You need a Yes ID, a program called Yes Life, and what?! How do I even get Yes Life in my phone or iPad or iPod?!

Yes, they need to explain it better.
*
yes life for mac is coming soon, but i dunno ipad or ipod or iphone version will come out or not. you need internet access to use yes life(call&sms), just like skype.

for ipad or iphone, u can buy the huddle to sharing to your ipad and iphone thru wifi connection.
