Hi, I am a total newbie when it comes to DSLR, just came across the NEX series recently and really interested in it, so I wanna ask all the pros here whether it's a good camera and what are the pros and cons, sufficient for an entry level? And I saw the price list posted on the 1st page, where can I get those prices cause I thought cameras are all fixed price just diff goodies..

yea its a very very good camera for that size.  smile.gif  cons a...well it could be cheaper. tongue.gif

u can get those prices at any camera shop selling sony goods...

only those that u buy from sony style are fixed price...

I planning to get the NEX-3, since NEX-5 only offers better video in which 720P in NEX-3 is already sufficient I think... Is there any difference though getting at other shops? Do they offer freebies like Sony Stylez does?

So it's better to get the 18-55mm instead of 16mm right?

Everywhere giving free 8GB card already.
Buy from Sony Centre no discount, but get free screen protector and 8GB Memory stick now.

For mine, i got Sandisk 8GB class 10 SDHC, a bag, screen protector, a tripod, and a useless filter...
Everything for RM2470

Hmm.. From the 1st page of the thread... Sony Nex-3 with zoom lens is Rm18xx and Sony Style sells for rm2199.. Does anyone know which shop around Low Yat/ Sungai Wang I can get it?? It's with 8GB card right? Cause apparently some cameras are cheaper because they take away the memory card.. is it wrong?

Is Prime Lens really that good?
I am planning to get NEX-3 soon with the zoom lens coz 1 of my photography frens told me that I won't really use much of the prime lens if i get the twin lens and that f2.8 and f3.6 won't differ that much....
So what do u guys think? btw, I am a newbie in manual photography...

Ah, I meant like setting shutter speeds, apertures, iso and all that.. All the time I use auto mode in my digicam to take photographs lol... Yes, I do understand that but NEX's high ISO would compensate for the zoom lens right? Does it really differ a lot for a newbie like me? I thought of just getting the prime lens but not being able to zoom is like ><

I am thinking whether to get NEX in HK or not... It doesnt' really matter since SONY Warranty is international right? HK is so much cheaper... Their 16mm and 18-55mm lens are the same price around rm1.7-1.8k.. twin lens is just rm2.2k at their sony retail and I am sure other places would be even cheaper... Wat'ya guys think?

Hmm.. I am not sure HK being out of stock or not for NEX.. I just know my HK fren's sister bought a NEX-3 not long ago at Broadway (a big electric n electronics retailer in HK).. It is definitely cheaper but I am not sure whether bundles are the same as the ones in Malaysia.. In HK, they sell 'water products' as well from USA, Korea, japan and they're even cheaper.. So actually I am studying in UK and would be using the camera most of the time there, so it means that it doesn't matter if I buy in HK or Malaysia, I still have to pay the service charge for the warranty in UK then if I wanna repair?

Added on August 11, 2010, 9:19 amGuys u can actually refer to sonystylez hk website to refer their retail price.. I think it's much cheaper mainly because of the exchange rate now.. Even their iPhone4 is only around rm2000 only

Dear NEX users, just wanna get some idea on some good shops where I can get a good package as I plan on getting a NEX 3.

Appreciate any comments and thanks in advance!

I haven't bought but planning to get 1 next month

I think Studio Zaloon gives the best deal after having much survey..

I went to LYP today and just asked a few shops for NEX-3 with twin lens prices.. Their prices is just bad.....

Got 1 wanna cheat me... Say only today promotion for rm2399 which normally they sell for 2699.. ><
Another one just told me RRP price rm2699 and comes with 4gb WTF.. I'd rather go Sony Stylez to buy since they come with 8gb..

And I thought street price is supposed to be cheaper.. Damn it...

So basically NEX currently is the best bang for the buck in terms of compact cameras with dslr quality? Any micro 4/3 better than it?
