Most probably a Steady Shot malfunction. I'm afraid you'll have to send it back to Sony Center.

soket : Don't be too discouraged la... check the price out first. It's not your sensor, it's the Steady shot mechanism. Maybe it's not as expensive as you think.

They are STILL rumours at this point. No reason to get all excited. Just wait and see when the real product is launched.

I am definitely wanting to see a A7xx more than anything.

wa...meaning 18-55 kitlens + 55+200mm  come out quality is better than 1 single 18-200mm?.. blink.gif

The difference in actual image quality between the kitlenses and the 18-200mm will be small. You will not be able to tell the difference unless you pixel peep but there are some differences that you might want to consider such as:

1. The kitlenses will offer you brighter apertures especially in the telephoto ranges.
2. The 18-200mm will probably focus slower than the kitlenses due to the large focal range that it provides.
3. The 18-200mm is based on an old design that is more optimized towards film.
4. The kitlenses will have newer coatings that will perform better in CA control.

There is a reason why the 18-200mm is priced at less than RM1k. If you want a newer design, try the Tamron 18-250mm which is overall better than the 18-200mm but the above point no. 1 & 2 still applies. The Sony 18-250mm is based on the Tamron design but Sony changed the gearings so the Sony lens will focus a bit faster than the Tamron.

ahpingko : Your 75-300mm is also an older design. The newer 55-200mm will focus faster compared to the 75-300mm and the 18-200mm and 18-250mm unless someone who has used all these lenses can tell me otherwise.

I stand corrected. Still the difference is small and if one is not particular and wants the convenience then by all means get the 18-200mm

jerrylyh : If you are not adverse to changing lens once in a while then I would suggest that you get the 55-200mm.

Ask yourself if you take many shots using telephoto ranges. If not then you can use the 55-200mm when you need to.

Shooting scenery usually need you to have wide angle rather than telephoto.

The 18-55mm and the 55-200mm will definitely give you better IQ than the 18-200mm. If you do not need the convenience then go with the 55-200mm. It's small and light enough so should not be too much trouble to carry around.

yeah..i know that.just that i am worried cause the 55-200mm has no more warranty..
plus the seller is in labuan.i'm studying in kl.can't check the condition of the lens..
and i am afraid that something might occur during postage..
1 more thing is that im scared that i might get the sensor dirty during changing lens..
but it is a really good deal nevertheless..
sigh..undecided..

Then wait for one that you can COD so you can check the lens before buying. There's no need to rush things. It's always better to COD unless you are buying from a reputable seller.

Have you checked alphanatics for sellers too?
