Summary: Super zoom lens is suitable for people who want all range but doesn't want to carry many lenses while travelling. Using the SAL18250 I don't notice any difference in sharpness when compare to 18-70 kit within similar range but definitely there is a small difference when compare with 55-200 kit on a similar range. Nevertheless, it's a convenient "Mother of all lens" in term of range minus the aperture and focusing speed.
The Sigma 18-250 HSM however would have faster focusing speed than the SAL18-250, but larger and heavier.

marauderz: Good stuff - thanks for your findings!
shootkk: Certainly not - the 18-200mm is already a DT APS-C lens optimized for digital. However it's weaker than the 18-250mm so I can't say for sure if it's better than the 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses which are pretty good!

I stand corrected. Still the difference is small and if one is not particular and wants the convenience then by all means get the 18-200mm

QUOTE(marauderz @ Aug 18 2010, 09:17 PM) Yes, we should wait for official news, cause one thing bothers me. See the pattern on the body? in front where the 'a' logo is? that pattern doesn't show until it's used and old on my A350 last time. Would Sony take a pic of a worn body? i hardly understand wat u mean bro.. haha. did u think the body finishing texture?

Bro although the grip might be the negative impression but who knows it may be comfortable when you actually test it on the spot? So dun judge so fast that like it will be sure uncomfortable when u haven test it But I was impressed they have 10fps AF Tracking ... on par with 1DMk4 now in speed This post has been edited by wingster: Aug 19 2010, 01:21 PM
