Saw there a lot of EE people here , http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1503963/+40 ,
Wanted to ask , there are a few brand of AVR Surge Protector.I dont have extra for UPS but just wanted to buy for pc or for my TV.

Right Power SR-800E AVR (lightning arrestor+surge protect)
KOSS Activa A80S 800VA AVR
KOSS Activa A100S 1000VA AVR
Right Power SR-1000DE AVR

I remember reading , those AVR Surge Protector will produce ( tick tick tick) sound which is noisy. So which brand dont have the sound and good ? recommend ?

AVR is redundant. Modern electrical appliances can handle typical +/- 10% variance in voltage.

But I do recommend a lightning arrestor.

Supposedly >9000 times better than Belkin brand.

Hope this helps....

My TV is not modern , is about 8 years or more , same goes with other house applicant like rice cooker and etc.
I though Belkin is very famous or good brand and expensive also . , why others better than Belkin ?

Those tick-tick sound I believe is the sound of the internal switching circuit working when there is a spike or brownout.

8 years is considered modern laaa. One thing about electrical technology, not much has changed since they started appearing. So 8 years technology is actually still modern. The only thing that is always updating is electronics....

Belkin is basically expensive. Technology is also not that advance, just like any other cap ayam lightning/surge arrestor. It's basically an extra fuse circuitry so that when there's a current spike from a lightning, the fuse blows up 1st before your equipment.

That is also why they provide lifetime warranty. Since they expect at least a few to explode during lifetime of the arrestor.

Cal-lab is basically home grown tech. Must support local products maaaa.

Besides they use slightly differnt technology than simple arrestor.

Anything other than KOSS. KOSS is kinda 'cheapo' brand in my opinion. I had one of them and the same time I bought, my speakers were blown. Coincidence? I think not. It just kept clicking like crazy. As usual I thought it was normal. Then the speakers just damaged.

The annoying clicking sound (yes, I know it is 'regulating') is loud and annoying.

Say no to KOSS.

yes, as mentioned too by faidzal, they 'tick tick tick' sound are caused by the relay inside the AVR when it tries to regulates the incoming voltage.
but if its continuous then i presume something is wrong.
Right Power SR800E is definately w/o those annoying sound, during normal voltage input.

pm mi if u need any more info
