Maybe the strategy is: When the sale of iPhone getting slow, then they will release the white one... So, the sale will up again...
*
ah please, spare your thoughts to yourself, was there a moment in time the iphone pace slowed down greatly in momentum? We are not talking about the deceased microsoft kin phone here, the iPhone 4 White is having a screen supply issue, constraint and also the white tinting and to avoid the backlight from shining through, this has to be addressed first, or would you rather have a half baked iphone 4 White to whine about?

for those on 3-4 months waiting list, it would be Launch->wait 4 months->use 6-8months->launch again....
all of a sudden i hate Jobs.....

you do realize launching a product in 80 countries to millions of customers is a nearly an impossible task? if you cant wait then pay a premium and be an early adopter, very simple solution indeed.

if you get your macbooks from Sg, it has 2 stickers for the "apple" behind the screen, and a extra cloth to clean the macbook.

I've never seen that in the malaysian units.

It wasn't me who bought it. It was my colleague in Sg who used my company's credit card(PB Malaysian Card)

That was 9 months ago.
*
the stickers has always been there, look at your black docket with Restoration discs, apple's packaging is the same worldwide.

The signal issues has been fixed by Apple. They don't say that because that will cause around 1 million people to return their iphone 4 for a replacement.
*
Apple has publicly acknowledged that only 0.56 percent face tht issue, and anyone who has the issue could return and get a refund, please dont exaggerate and state your source.

QUOTE(consultant79 @ Aug 1 2010, 12:18 PM)
You don't know what shit you're talking about.

If Apple publicly announces that the new batch of iphones is no more antenna-defective, hoards of people would  call tech support up for a replacement of the phone.

Getting a refund and replacing your phone is 2 extremely different things. There's something called "advanced replacement" by Apple(something like warranty, but you can  get a replacement phone outright where you will need to put your current phone in a box sent by apple). It's available in big Iphone markets. Check your facts, and please don't smash your keyboard with limited information.

ps- Please don't quote statistics by Apple for the number of complaints of their own products. They can cook up all kind of statistics to back their products-it's internal statistics, so no one can challenge that... they can disqualify many complaints, by simply suggesting it's an "inquiry of about the iphone", rather than a complaint on the antenna. Iphone 4 has a 2% return rate, which is HUGE, especially for a high-end and high-quality product manufacturer like Apple. By the way, Apple tried to play their way out of the antenna issue by claiming it was a software issue and they didn't follow AT&T guidelines- after Consumer Reports said the antenna was indeed physically defective, they then switched the issue to "free bumper cases"... Bloody jokers.

well you sure are a feisty one, to be so worked up by a simple comment and cook up a long winded response is certainly amusing nonetheless. The fact of the matter is, you are still stating your own opinions with no backing whatsoever, where is your source of the 2%? Every manufacturer that makes products, even Sugar Manufacturers, Rice Manufacturers have a defect rate, this is basic economics, mass production will have a defect rate cause by many anomalies, this cannot be eradicated but lessened through QC.

Advanced replacement or Direct Mail-In Service? isnt this for sending in stuff for service? it doesnt equate direct replacement does it, it would be diagnosed and then be repaired under applecare, exchanged for a refub unit. This is more of convenient way if you dont have a reseller or an apple store in your area. We have a similar service for product sold in Malaysia by the Apple Online Store, if its defective within 14 days, DHL will send you a box to carry your product back to Apple SG.

My comment is entirely simple, if you face the issue, just go back within 30 days and get your money for all its worth, if you still need to use the iPhone 4 then call up applecare, visit a genius bar or a reseller, telco CS and escalate your problem for a replacement, there is still a 7 day policy, at least here in Malaysia for DOA(Dead On Arrival), that covers a range of issues, or if you could live with the issue get the bumper they are offering and live with it. So theres three fronts apple is offering you:

A: Return and get a Refund

B: Get a replacement, make a sound argument, check your phone throughly within the 7-14 day DOA policy

C: Get the Bumper, live with it.

PS: Do not equate High End to High Quality = Trouble free, that is an utopian dream, face the fact that everything has a defect rate even diamond, oh and also every company has its rights to do a damage control caused by the fourth estate(media), whether the PR works to alleviate the issue is another thing altogether, action is always better than inaction, oh and yeah and please dont get too excited about knowing your stuff, cause im pretty sure most of us here would trump you on that, keep the sarcasm and i'am-smarter-than-a-fifth-grader-attitude in the playground aight whistling.gif

To the MODs,
-kindly remove this reply, if it violates the discussion, thanks.

singapore - $888
malaysia - RM2290 (maxis)

2290 / 888 = 2.58
singapore - $1048
malaysia - RM2690

2690 / 1048 = 2.57
*
how sure are you this is the official price of the iPhone 4 by Maxis? wouldnt it canibalize the iPhone 3GS 8GB at RM1990?

I think he calculated from the price forumers are selling here.
i doubt its maxis price (althought no news yet), maxis wont be selling it that cheap.

nothing is cheap. if u go to kampung area prolly can get thing cheaper, coz they are honest ppl. but malaysian telco.. hoho.. no way
*
probably because kampung people dont have to provide infrastructure, customer support, sign agreements, handle shipping and insurance for goods? you cant compare kampung people and big corporations like telco. And since when iphones are sold in kampungs? very bad analogy here. Anyways back to the discussion the phone price cant be exchanged in that way if the iPhone 3GS 8GB is any indicator the iPhone 4 would follow the previous pricing.
