Just wanna ask is the standard price for SEA more expensive then sc2 sold in asia?

Coz i was checking sites like gamestop where the price for the normal game is usd 59.99, but when i want 2 buy it direct from blizzard site, its asking for SGD 109 which is USD 80 dollars.

So essentially, i am getting ripped off 20 USD since i am buying the game in the asian region?

Probably the servers still need tweaking.

Yea, SEA version is more expensive.

I think, just go for US version.

Cheaper, and the servers are much more stable. SEA server is quite bad now, even the number of players are less than Beta on US server.

well da SEA version is more expensive is due to u are able to access the US Server using the SEA version maybe around 2 months later?
meaning u can access SEA server and US server while using the SEA version BUT u can't access the SEA server using the US version wink.gif

If I recall correctly, the SEA version cost more to cover the cost of setting up the Battlenet servers for SEA. Correct me if I'm wrong ya.

I had a hunch it maybe that reason.

Its quite expensive to setup a server farm in singapore due to the general cost of electricity over there as well as space needed to host the game servers.

Malaysia would be a better option if not for the fact that out broadband network infrastructure is the only thing holding us back.

You also need to factor in the ridiculous local price as a deterrent to most players over here. These guys are going to jack sparrow it. Not surprised the servers are half dead compared to other regions.

That may be the official reason behind that, but there's so many shooters I've played with official dedicated servers in SG. And I didn't need to pay extra for the server costs. So, to me, the price hike is unjustified.

Hi,

If I want to get US version SC2, that mean the only option is to download digital copy from Blizzard? Do I get retail box with US version?

One more question, I am using MAC. Is all digital copy download or retail box have both version inside the CD? Or Mac version has separate install. Thanks.

Is there any difference between digital copy and retail copy in term of content? Thanks

Guest pass is for playing SC2 for up to 7 hours gameplay or 14 days from registering guest pass.

ASAP: Cheapest option is digital download (59.90 USD). Retail copy just gets you a box with the DVD and manual extra. Both copies allow you to redownload the game client as many times as needed.

Not sure about the Mac/PC part.

The retail box selling in Malaysia is only SEA version? Do they carry any retail box for US version? Thanks

I was trying to login bnet, and suppose bnet is not down, but housemate downloading at full capacity, so i even barely able to go into forum. So when i try login sc2, it show connection not established, then will pop up options to play offline.

So i did try the offline mode, seem like it will allow only campaign and watch replays. U basically cant see anything else. I didnt try Versus AI but i think will not be able to also. There's 1 thing unsure is, i think u do need to atleast activate ur game online and atleast login to bnet to play ur campaign once. OR maybe the login authentication part is actually did authenticate u, then only it check for region bnet, then if bnet unable to access only pop up offline mode.

Someone do try a few different scenario? So that we can confirm that campaign dont have to be played online, and under what condition? Cannot be simply no login or username also can plaI was trying to login bnet, and suppose bnet is not down, but housemate downloading at full capacity, so i even barely able to go into forum. Play as a Guest is a feature to play single player game only when you don't have internet connection.
Obviously you will not earn any achievement on this mode.

@ASAP - there 2 option to get US version. That's if u really do just want o get the US version. Since u need to know that in less than 60 days, SEA version will be given access to US servers.

So, 1 is by digital download. The digital download will allow u to choose Mac or PC client to download after u purchase the game i think. Or after download the game then activate it. But there definitely got label Mac download link in your bnet account.

2nd option is to get the retail box copy, mostly is to order from online and got it deliver to u. Malaysia sell 1 is all SEA 1 as i known, unless u can find some sc2 seller from forum here that direct import from US. As for the retail box copy, the DVD contain both Mac and PC client. The installation is the same, just put in DVD and let it autorun, or click on setup or whatever, the rest is the installer will do it self.

Added on July 29, 2010, 10:20 am@fizyboy - did you really test the play as guest? If it is allowing user with no guest pass to play it for single player campaign, then it will be like the post i just posted, it will be like a free campaign game for EVERYONE who didnt buy the game. Cause the game file can simply be copy and paste to every computer in CC and everyone can play as guest to finish off the SP? That is like... impossible.
