Added on September 2, 2010, 4:12 pmAt first not sure which LED is not on, iam using 110E here, it is only 2 LED if u dot not plug ur LAN cable. Do you?  tongue.gif the 3rd LED is Ethernet LED. May be swap another LAN cable to test it out

if u follow the advise in the manual, initially it ask you to put 2 homeplugs that u want to paired up side by side, then press the button for 10sec for one of them.

If the center LED then the network ID might be diff. You might want to repress the button again and go back to process again.
*
Mine is Powerline Activity is not on, power and ethernet led is on. If I do not plug LAN cable, there is only one power led on.

I did not paired side by side. Do I need to have LAN cable connected to modem/STB for pairing? Thanks for replying

Try putting them side by side, if not reset back to factory setting. You probably mess up the powerline security settings.
*
No, I didn't change any security setting, when I put them side by side (without ethernet cable), the powerline activity is lid, but when I connected the homeplug t DIR-615 (1st floor) and pairing with the other homeplug (ground floor) to STB, no more green light from powerline activity ,

I think you may have accidentally changed the network name and they are not matched now. Try using the utility software to set both to the same network name, or just to reset both back to factory default.

Thanks Akerue, try it out now, I did not use the CD previously. Hopefully it works smile.gif

I have had factory resetted and successfully paired them side by side with powerline activity (green light).

When I transfer them one at 1st floor; the other at ground floor, turn them on, there is no more powerline activity? Why ?

It works now, after I connect direct to wall outlet instead of power extension,

Just for a while, the pairing is unstable, I do not have a wall outlet (using power extension) on the other end

Maybe your power extension is old? I too use a power extension (Belkin) at one end where my BTU, DIR 615, NAS etc are located but have no problems
*
I have diagnosed my problem, my extension was connected from another extension, there may be lot of electronic noise affecting the pairing. I reconfigure my extension direct from another socket outlet (due to limited socket outlet at 1st floor), it finally works. What a day !

It gets worse if you have your surge protector like those Belkin ones connected to a voltage regulator unit. These units were meant to normalize the powerline noise, hence negating the effect of home plug.
*
I agree totally , previously the homeplug was connected to surge protector then to power extension to another power extension, it's really bad setup due to limited socket outlet at 1st floor family hall. I have no choice but to connect from the nearest bedroom. The homeplug actually for HyppTv, not much tv programmes and disappointed.

Hi D3vilsim, I have no problem with UNIFI, but as my post earlier, can you explain why the packet loss test failed to carry out?

Both my home plug are on superb (green) mode smile.gif

Hi, I am not pro in networking. But packet lost can be many reason start from cabling Lan & phone & wifi. U shall try ping in LAN.
Mine also facing packet lost sometimes ..

As for the router... i don't even think is stable even on LAN.  mad.gif

Hope can get solutions fast to completely replace the router. pack it and keep in store room.  icon_rolleyes.gif

The router(DIR-615) is working fine, I haven't done VLAN bridge over my 2nd router yet as per Riz's guide, just leave the DIR-615 for few days/weeks and see.

My earlier question was why the packet loss test was not performed, any sifu can get in me an answer?

Appreciate your help smile.gif

I wish to thanks for Riz's guide on Customized Router, I have successfully configured my newly bought TP Link TL-WR941N internet wireless router as VLAN bridge from TM-DLink DIR-615, they work flawlessly !

Currently all my equipment (PC notebook, iMac, iPod touch, Blackberry Bold, Squeezebox (network media player) are connected wirelessly with DHCP from TL-WR941N without any problem.

Here's the speedtest result.

Thanks again to Riz and kudos to his wonderful writeup !

p/s: My UNIFI just being installed 3 days ago, TM D-Link DIR working very well 24/7 with notebook fan running 24/7, but decided to customize the above setup to reduce DIR-615 stress and prolong its life.

Wait.... u are telling me the USB slot on the 615 works well enough to power the notebook fan?
*
I believe so as DIR-615 not hot at all when I touch on the top surface. I bought the notebook fan from Lowyat accesssories shop for only RM 19, currently I place both DIR-615 and TL-WR941N on top of the notebook fan smile.gif

biggrin.gif My installer told me to keep the default settings for about 1 month for diagnostic purposes. Naturally, I did not comply.
*
I received the same message from the installer as he mentioned UNIFI personnel may need to configure your system within a month. After 3 days UNIFI installed, I break the rules and have VLAN bridge over DIR-615

I'm glad i read Riz's guide to disable that remote management thing and enable firewall  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

At the moment, I start to feel that my dlink is getting SICK, connected but unable to use internet... time to whip out vlan bridge
*
Can I enable firewall on my internet router (TLink WP941N) instead of DIR-615, i.e. disable firewall on DIR-615?

No VOIP still, but no problem with download (currently downloading iPod app. update) - Puchong Utama 2

Im not sure about that, but from what I read around the thread, its best to decrease as much load from the DIR and pass it to your router since DIR is so easy to kaput.... so yeah, i think it would be better to enable firewall in your "real" router =p
*
Thanks, that' what I am doing tongue.gif, also diable wireless@DIR-615, this morning I started to slow in responding TM D-link page (192.168.0.1) when type the URL in my browser, very scary shocking.gif

Fast, fast I follow Riz' guide to customize my new purchased internet router, otherwise DIR-615 will get fever ! biggrin.gif
