Good to know there's now an option to completely replace the DIR 615...and it comes with gigabit ports too

Don't take it literally as it does not catch any fire but when we say "burn", what we mean is kaput. The DIR 615 has overheating issues if not properly ventilated.

Same here, the reception suxx where I live. Adjust aerial to get one channel clear, another goes snowy

With IPTV, all channels are now crystal clear and my mum's loving it! My wife's even been playing with the VOD. Too bad TM don't sell STBs as an option for subscribers who want more than 1 unit at home

Here's how I'm set up currently

BTU --->DIR 615:
--->LAN 4--->Homeplug Group 1---><---Homeplug Group 1<---STB-IPTV
--->LAN 3--->Homeplug Group 2---><---Homeplug Group 2<---Mediaplayer
--->LAN 2--->Desktop PC
--->LAN 1--->NAS

The Aztech homeplug CD has a utility which you can use to change the Network Group name. Just make sure the IPTV pair are named differently from the rest.

The DIR 615 is still running strong No hangups since it was changed more than a week ago

Which model of homeplug are you using? I'm on combination of HL109EP and HL109E. In any case, you can try to download the utility from their website here

Confirm will work. My ZTE BTU and DIR 615 are in my study. Using a pair of homeplugs, connected to the STB which is at my living room

I'm using the exact thing except on one end (STB side) its a HL109EP (with plug point). No lags even for the HD channels.

Added on August 26, 2010, 3:52 pmHope the above answers your question. Note that using the Aztech homeplugs, I encountered no lag on the IPTV even when I was on full throttle on downloading I believe this is because Internet connection and IPTV connection are not sharing the same bandwidth

My apartment is on single phase but I've heard before that it still works on 3 phase.

Unfortunately, my setup is still the "stock" version insofar as equipment is concerned. Essentially, the DIR 615 located in my study is connected via LAN 4 through Homeplug to the STB in my living room. LAN 3 is another homeplug connection to my mediaplayer in my bedroom, LAN used to connect my desktop in my study and LAN 1 to my NS in my study.

The current DIR 615 I am using is my second unit. The first kaputed a week after installation. And mind you, I'm not a heavy downloader although I keep the entire setup on 24-7

When I was on Streamyx, I had a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 wifi router hooked up to a first generation ZTE ADSL modem which was never turned off and I had no problems with them. So, I've been following this thread closely in wait for a good alternative to completely replace the "sensitive" DIR 615. The sifus here have found a way to totally replace the DIR 615. So, I too will likely invest in a RB250GS. Pair it with a good wireless access point and everything will be good to go

Added on August 26, 2010, 11:17 pmI'm guessing you are asking about your unifi password that is required for PPPoE process. Your password should be as what is indicated in the Registration Confirmation printout that came along with the TM guy who installed your setup

I tend to favor going with Buffalo as they have not failed me before in the past. BUFFALO WZR-HP-G300N or BUFFALO WZR-HP-G300NH would be good choices and they are definitely DD-WRT-able Price wise, should be around RM16x and RM26x respectively i think

A lot of us here know exactly how you feel. As I said to the TM tech who came over to replace mine a couple of weeks back, unless a more reliable router is found to replace the current DIR 615, they are going to be VERY busy
