QUOTE(richard912 @ Aug 17 2010, 04:20 PM) My BTU is located in my study while the STB is in the livingroom (I live in an apartment). I have no problems with lag using a pair of homeplugs which can run at 200mbps between the BTU and STB but do note that the DIR 615 ports are only 10/100. Just make sure the pair of plugs are on the same phase of your home electrical circuit. If you are worried about having too many plugpoints, go for the HL109EP model. FYI, Aztech, the maker of the Homeplug, has since launched a gigabit version of the homeplug Thx richard912, then it's bottle neck at 10/100Mbps even though the homeplug is 200Mbps, can the homeplug be connected to BTU ? what is the transmission speed of BTU? How much are they selling approximately? are they selling for pairs? This post has been edited by auronthas: Aug 17 2010, 04:39 PM

110e is probably best bang of buck now. the extra money for the plugpoint is not worth, might as well get ur extension.

FYI, Aztech, the maker of the Homeplug, has since launched a gigabit version of the homeplug I think Aztech homeplug can work on different phase as well. My house is 3-phase but I have tried in different power points and they all work. Don't buy the Gigabit version yet, it has manufacturing defects. Aztech said they are working on it and new batch should solve the issue. The current batch making very irritating humming noise Anyway, IPTV only need 8 Mbps even for HD channel, so the 200 Mbps homeplug should be fine.

Ok, i see, what will be the cap per day or cap per month? 2 hours movie in DVD dual layer is approx. 8.5 GB, if you watching average 4 hours internet TV per day alone without PC internet, that will be approx. 17GB per day. Monthly will be 510GB per month or 0.5 TB per month. Correct me if I am wrong from the above assumption ?

QUOTE(alextong8386 @ Aug 17 2010, 04:02 PM) Can we use LAN1 at Huawei modem for DIR-615 to be link to IPTV and LAN2 at Huawei modem for WZR-HP-G300NH to be link to internet and VOIP. I do not plan to use DD-WRT firmware for WZR-HP-G300NH. I will just modify the setting for Huawei modem in order for it to support direct connection for all the 4 LAN port. OK lets see, what you mean is as per the setup below :- Huawei BTU @ LAN1 => WAN @ DIR-615 => DIR-615 @ LAN4 => STB(IPTV) Huawei BTU @ LAN2( With PPPoE WAN Setup and Running) => WAN @ HP-G300NH( without any open source FW) => LAN1-4 Ports => other devices If so then yes of course it would work, my guide is for people who don't want to use any VLAN tagging on the WAN port on their own router devices. Also the setup above is what I am currently using as well. Of course I'm using a different model of router which is my WRT54GL. If my guide is not clear or there are some improvement needed do let me know via PM lol... as my English language used in it might not be clear or there might be some grammar mistakes lulz... I received the Unifi bill today. I get a shocking discovery. They charge when you call the 1-300 number!! Last time, when I used the Streamyx which also have free call to TM fixed line and they do not charge when you call 1-300 number.
I called the Unifi centre and the Customer Service Confirm to me that they do charge the 1-300 number under special number. What the hack is this!! The 1-300 number also a TM fixed line and moreover the owner of the 1-300 line pay the charges to TM when we call the line and now TM do a both side charge. They really want to make money out of it. I told the CS of the Unifi centre that they better provide us the normal 8 digits phone number so that when we call them, we no need to pay. Now when you call the Unifi Centre's 1-300 number from your Unifi's Voice line, you have to pay for it !!!

You need a pair of homeplug, one at your DIR 615 connected to LAN4 which is reserved for IPTV, the other one at STB. True, if you use the 200 Mbps you get 10/100 Mbps ethernet connection, but that is good enough for IPTV already. I think you can get like 20-50 Mbps through this homeplug if your line is clean. I am using the Gigabit Homeplug myself, I think I am connecting between 80 to >100 Mbps because my homeplug switch between 10/100/1000 and 10/100 (blue LED and green LED), although 70% of the time it stays at Gigabit.
