Hmm.. If I have a budget of 1K, what's the best Android phone out there? I'm still a noob in Android, been previously on symbian for 5 years, now still deciding whether to stay on symbian or make the leap to android.

I maybe killed by the folks at Symbian subforum for posting this, but I need an opinion. I got a Nokia N8 last two weeks but then I started reading about Android. And the more I read the more I'm drawn into posting my N8 for sale in Garage Sales. tongue.gif After reading through till posts from 1st January, it seems that
1.) The best Android at 1.5K is the Desire AP? I'm not sure I can get it at that price here in Sarawak.
2.) Sub 1K is the Optimus One? I could use the extra money after letting go of my N8.

1.) Not exactly, Samsung Captivate , Acer Liquid Metal are also on the table to choose from.

2.) Yup, but the camera will be a let down. 3MP only. It is like crap when compared to your N8's 12MP camera.

Bro, you're in Bintulu? Me too. biggrin.gif Any reputable Samsung/HTC dealers in Bintulu? Coz I don't really see much Android phones on sale there. And I'm not sure the Captivate can be easily found there too..

For your 1st question, Captivate/Vibrant is a nice choice at that price range too. If you need the extra power on the GPU that is. Not really necessary though since Desire can handle any games too. But the SGS IS future proof. Acer Liquid Metal is a better of the two being newer and having the same proc as the Desire Z. Adreno 205 which is equivalent to a SGX535. Sadly the camera is bad but its the cheaper of the 3. Desire was crowned phone of the year for a reason. Best software support of the 3 and with a camera + flash unlike Captivate which is only an AF. I'll list down the prices
Desire(AP) 1.4-1.5k
Liquid Metal(ORI) 1.2k
Captivate/Vibrant(AP)1.5k

For the 2nd question, Optimus one is not the best but it is one of the favoured choices for a sub 1k Android. Future proof too when LG announced that its Gingerbread ready. The N8 is undoubtedly the best camera phone but if you want an android, the best camera you can get is from the XT720 in your price range smile.gif

Hope i cleared up your doubts.

Thanks bro! Really appreciate your effort in explaining all of that. I now have a better picture of what I want to buy. Just need to sort out my budget and my N8. With luck, I'll report into this subforum after CNY. biggrin.gif

Well, N8 undeniably has a pretty good lens. But software wise, Symbian is seriouysly going down the drain >.<

Ironic that ur siggy is promoting the Symbian Community Shirt, hehe.. Just imagine N8 running MIUI, or Leedroid. Damn nice. Ex N8 owner here. Currently using Desire. biggrin.gif
