but specifications sheet doesn't state the PPI...guess i'll have to look at the units with mine own eyes first...

The X8 has 192 PPI while the Optimus One has 180 PPI, not much of a difference if you ask me.

Info was found here: http://www.compare-cellphones.org/LG-Optim...csson-Xperia-X8

lg optimus one is the best for budget rm 1k+/- ?

For now, IMO, yes, one of the best entry smartphone. Although, the newly unveiled Huawei IDEOS X5 (not available in Malaysia at the moment) seems to outmatch it, IF the price is of the Optimus One's range.

Anyone has a rough estimation of the IDEOS' price?

hmm, after looking at the video again and actually listening to it (i wasn't listening to it when i first watch the video as the pc i was using at that time doesn't have speaker or neither do i have a earphone with me) i heard the reviewer says the interface is a bit choppy at times. =/

LightningFist, smoother and more responsive touch are important. of course we dun expect much from mid-range phones but surely if we have the option to see whichever performs better, we go for the ones that is better right? but of course if the price difference and the performance doesn't match up to your expectations then that's a different thing altogether. if i tried the unit with my own hands and with my own judgement i think that the extra responsiveness isn't worth the price i pay for then i go for O1 instead. though the 5mp and the comment that Chic produces better picture in low light condition compared to O1's.

if my budget went up to sub 1.3k range, i'm gonna have a new set of phones to dilemma thru tongue.gif and that acer's liquid metal's spec looks interesting...

Why not try the Optimus One at any phone shop? You might just buy it on the spot. biggrin.gif It's pretty darn impressive, at least in the videos.

Hey guys, got a brand new dilemma here.

It's between the LG Optimus One and the new Acer Liquid Metal.
I'm not looking at it specs-wise, cause obviously the LM outshines the O1.
I would like to know the best value for money.

The Pros of O1 over the LM:
It's upgradable to v2.3 Gingerbread
Cheaper by approximately 400 ringgit
It's... An LG?

Cons of O1:
No flash support (limitation of CPU)
Lower specs
Multitouch issues (axis inversion)
Been said to have "input lag" where the phone would lag heavily with each touch (some says the CPU shoots up to 100%)

Pros of LM over the O1:
Much better specs. (Eg, 2nd gen Snapdragon D:)
The nifty notifications on top of the phone
Flash support (2.2 Froyo)

Cons of LM:
Costs more than O1 by approximately 400 ringgit
No v2.3 Gingerbread? (no news regarding it)
It's... An Acer? (doubting the credibility of Acer with smartphones)

Any input is immensely appreciated.

Liquid Metal is the best 1.2k range phones thus far. 2nd gen Snapdragon at 800mhz which is the same as the 1.9k Desire Z. And it is a farking Vanilla phone. Want me to relist the pros and cons again?
Pros:
1:Vanilla.(Means its a phone without any additional icons or skins. Its just pure android. This is what Nexus S and Nexus One uses. There is actually something called Breeze UI installed but you can disable it. Thus, granting the Vanilla)
2: 800mhz 2nd gen Snapdragon ala Desire Z
3: Dedicated camera button.(Very few Android phones have this IIRC)
4: Nice and vibrant screen though its TFT. Its a 3.6". Perfect size IMO.
5: LED notifications.
6: Nice loudspeaker
7: 800x480 at this price range is quite rare. So i guess its a pro.
8: Aluminium back cover
Cons:
1: Laggy Breeze UI. Can disable in favour of Vanilla.(95% favours vanilla doh.gif)
2: Its an Acer like people said. Personally i don't think this is much of a con as HTC and other major phone brands are Taiwan made too.

Sums it up i guess. I can't think of much cons for this phone. Perfect for its price. Comes with 8gb microSD from gtrowa.

In short, it is much better of a bang for your buck rather than the LG Optimus One? My only concern is the fact that it might not get Gingerbread, and I heard that the LED notification wouldn't work with Vanilla Android.
