Hey, I'm unsure whether to get an SE x10 or HTC desire. AP sets for the x10 is a few hundred ringgit cheaper than the desire but other than the screen, it seems desire trumps it in every other department.

Do you guys think the extra cost is worth it over the better UI, more RAM and more polished user experience?
*
The extra cost is worth it as Gingerbread is already available for the Desire. Having Gingerbread is quite important if you require a smooth browsing experience. x10i doesn't even have custom roms for FroYo afaik. Go for the Desire.

just want to share comments abt xt720 from 1 of active hackers member from @xda forum...this guy own sgs and xt720...hehe

"Dude!...

You'll not believe this, but this little toy from Motorora beats the Galaxy S, yes you heard me right, and no, i'm not joking.

If you go over to the I9000 section of the forum, you know Galaxy S is like bread & water, but when you put the 2 together, it beats the SGS hands on 2.1 eclair.

it has got App2SD or App2Card, it can be safely OC to 1 Ghz, stock is 720 Mhz

the screen is smoooooooooth sailing, not laggy like the SGS, GPS is perfect!

SGS GPS works, but it can be better

XT720 battery last a day+ on a single charge even when OCed

8 MP camera, dedicated camera buttons

HDMI output man! HDMI! not even the SGS has that.

you can throw in a 16 GB or 32 GB microSD, it comes out of the box with a 8 GB microSD

3G is really fast on Wind Mobile

Tons of hacks, all well brewed to perfection.

the machine is rock solid and stable... unlike the SGS

Everyone at work were impressed with the XT720 demo, they were not as impressed when the SGS were demoed, due the minor lags.

I was originally in FIDO, but the $40 plan was too sweet to pass over.

You'll not go wrong with the XT720

your next best bet if you really don't pick this one up, are the:
Tmobile Nexus S i9020
Tmobile Galaxy S Vibrant SGH-T959"

For the Tablet i'm not sure. Maybe Nook Colour or any other tablets will be okay. For the phone, i recommend you go for the Nexus S thats gonna be available soon for around 1.7-2.4k depending on when you wanna get it because it has a front camera like the Galaxy S and also the camera has flash unlike its Samsung counterpart. Vanilla UI is also a core selling point for this phone without any sort of lag and a smooth browsing experience which is a contender, if not superior to the iPhone 4.
*
how can i get nook in malaysia? icon_question.gif
u got the exact date for nexus S? hmm.gif

with the amount of money i m paying, i prefer with local warranty (most local android phone is 1 year, except for HTC which is 2 year)

anyway, thanks for the recommendation
not sure if i can wait longer

3. Specs. (Processor / RAM / OS Version / screen size)
4. What you need in the phone (Sense UI ? Touch Witz ? Battery life? Form factor?)

Erm, I'm not so sure what should I put in the factors above. Basically I'd want to try out a phone that's on par with iPhone 4. Is this information sufficient? @_@

you can consider HTC Desire HD (2k+-), HTC Desire(AP 1.5k, ORI 1.9k), Samsung Galaxy S(ORI 2.3k, AP 1.9k)

but IMO should go for white HTC Desire (1.6k) tongue.gif mostly just for the looks

I don't think I'd want SGS though, ><
Maybe HTC Desire HD then.

What about the upcoming phones? Like Nexus S, or LG Optimus?
Anyway, is it allowed to continue asking this way here? @_@ Sorry

if you can wait, definitely go for newer ones, they should be available by the next 1~2 months nod.gif
both Nexus S and LG Optimus X2 are very good choices
however LG Optimus X2 seems like a more logical choice,
due to its dual core processor, which will ensure best performance
while Nexus S's main selling point is the Nexus brand, the official developer phone from Google

otherwise Desire HD is a solid choice,
except for the battery life which is a small let down,
but you can always upgrade the battery to a higher capacity one smile.gif

khalpowers is trying to advertise for xt720? BTW Nexus S does not have a definite release date, or even a high chance of it actually getting an official release in Malaysia. Your best bet is to wait for it to release in SG and if you have a friend or relative there you can get it. Or maybe even a Garage Sales dealer who travels to SG often.

if you already have a SGS, then IMO its better to wait for the new generations of super phones that is equipped with at least Tegra 2 dual core processor. smile.gif

X8 is a little outdated considering that froyo is already out and it just updated to eclair. For that price, I think Optimus one will be a better choice, preinstalled foryo

For the sub 1k phones, the best you can get is the O1 or the G5. Sides from that all of the others get outdated firmwares.
