Yeap agreed. Really have to depend on situation. I'm almost the same as you..I was lucky because during secondary years, I mixed & speak mandarin in School & thus although I'm a banana but I'm still proud that I can speak & understand spoken mandarin well but not written.. haha. Otherwise I will not be lurking & trolling inside the mandarin thread sometime haha

QUOTE(davkong @ Jul 27 2010, 03:26 PM)
Speaking from my own experience, my whole life i studied in SRK and then SMK, even kindergarten also Tadika Perpaduan (govt kindy).. Parents didn't speak Mandarin with me at home, we speak our local dialect, but my schoolmates and i communicate in Mandarin all the time, except one or two pure bananas who dun even know how to write their own name in Chinese. Attended after school Mandarin classes provided FOC by the school (alot emphasis on hanyu pinyin and spelling test), but only one hour per day and i stopped at Form 2. Realized that i learnt how to read alot more Chinese words through interaction with friends, church (songs with chinese subtitles and hanyu pinyin, haha), watching dramas with chinese subtitles, and even karaoke.. But if you ask me to read a chinese book, i will hesitate because it's not my primary written language (although it might be my primary spoken language), reading it will need a lot of effort and it might take 3-4 times as long as someone fluent in reading chinese to finish it. But if it's a simple newspaper article, won't be a problem..

Point is, chinese school or kebangsaan school, your kids will have other sources to learn the other language from the surrounding. It depends on which one you perceive as more important and beneficial for your kid...

Just head for the East direction. Those trails not only blocked by fallen trees but the trail almost gone liao..on certaine route we need to chop & make new trail!! Not easy..something like real recce liao..Easier if go via the Saujana Puchong way & get the orang asli help For sure you will ended up in the two deep pools + the waterfall.

You go for yourself be prepared to get lost, dead end & also as the UPM guy told me..Those "thing" is hiding the waterfall from commoners view..making you round & round.

This trekking route is illegal i.e the whole Air Hitam is a research forest reserve and only for University & researchers nia. Those entering there are actually illegals esp those has house guys wth beers sumore biggrin.gif

There are to illegal entry points i.e:
Wawasan area: N3 01.478 E101 37.790 beside the sri Cempaka apt & shoplots (Very thick & lack of real trails
Saujana Puchong: N3 00.016 E101 38.646 (There is an existing 4WD track all the way to the northern end near Kinrara 5 (Dead End) & easier way to goto waterfalls & the 2 deep pools. However. The gate is locked & the only way is by asking permission from UPM or the orang asli

The Kok Siong Nasi Kandar behind Hong Leong already listed as the best - But my recent visit there I feel it's abit over-rated liao.. The pricing RM5.50 for a fried chicken + vege & RM0.50 for the papadfam really pissed me off..Even if Pelita same amount only RM5.80 wth free Papadam!! Well, I still feel the banjir gravy of Pelita much better than the limited choice by Kok Siong Nasi Kandar.. hmm.gif Yeah their dishes finished by 2pm bcos not much choices & limited cooking.. biggrin.gif

Aiyo we discuss only Puchong here wor...OUG & others for sure they have better food liao..Even there is no nice pork noodles in Puchong..Hv to goto OUG/SS15 to get the best prok noodle.. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(pgsiemkia @ Jul 29 2010, 02:40 PM)
My 2 cents...since I live to eat..

Nasi Kandar Pelita is re-cycled curry just like Kayu, so those with weak stomachs..beware. My suggestion, is the Indian mamak style food at coffeeshop behind HL bank (next to Tesco Puchong), that one, he open from 10am til finish at 3pm, fresher as all his dishes will be finished by 2pm and some more need to queue like schooltime. Another in wawasan shoplot, next to car wash. New curries everyday, now getting expensive due to new mamak owners.

Also the same shop behind HL bank has a Pg CKTeow guy who only comes in after 2pm and sells till 9pm cos he opens elsewhere in the morning. He's the closest to authentic Pg style as I can find in KL/PJ. The one in Puteri mart is halal and no pork rinds, so forget about good taste, same for the so-called famous CKTeow in Batai, KL too. No pork oil, you can tapau eat yourself.

Pg style curry mee still cannot beat the stall in OUG market, selling everyday except Thursday, this one the curry is not thick like KL/Johor/Ipoh style, got sotong and prawns inc. onion oil (secret ingredient) dun believe, meet me one day, I belanja...  laugh.gif

Puchong too many food stalls and restaurants, need to weed out carefully.

I also use google everytime I wanna check for taxi number biggrin.gif
