It's up to you basically. However, in my opinion, with the joystick you are able to perform more moves, more accurately, with less effort.

There is a reason that most of the top fighting game players all use joysticks.

Imo you don't necessarily NEED a stick in order to play better, it's just a matter of opinion.
I play Street Fighter on the Xbox, and I hate using the analog stick(don't even talk about the d-pad), so I got an arcade stick to aid that.
Same goes for PC, because I hate using the keyboard(doesn't register so and so amount of keys at a time).

If I had played on a PS3, I probably wouldn't need a stick as much, I can still pull off simple hadokens etc on the PS3 d-pad.

Yup agreed, for normal play, you don't really 'need' a joystick.

Two reasons I would recommend joystick though:

1. For advanced moves, and hard core players, it is easier on the hands in my opinion. Thumb can get sore after a while.

2. For the late 70s and 80s babies, it brings back that arcade feeling baby yeah!

90s babies onwards tend not to really understand the fuss about joysticks, or why some players are so in love with them, due to growing up in the console dominance era.

Thanks for everyone opinion about this...I think I going to get joystick and see the difference.

I am not playing for competition. I just preferable to master stick so that next time I go to any arcade center, I can waste some time on arcade while waiting for someone or something.

I guess you can say that I also want to enjoy the "arcade" experience as well since I have none on it.

Oo also forgot to mention, guys gather at Suncomic at The Curve regularly. Plenty of sticks, and good players there. Maybe before you decide on a joystick, which can be quite an investment, check out the scene there. Guys are cool, and welcome new people. They could probably give you good advice, as well as help you get a good deal on joysticks should you go for one.

Find out more and when next gathering is here:
