uMobile is getting the 1 billion expansion funds it needs from the Singapore Investment Arm via S Technologies Telemedia(STT).

That's why they are agressive these days.
*
But the upgrade is still quite slow in Klang Valley area.Maybe they are doing enhancements where other telcos are not focusing on and then only start to do KV area?

Today just received Umobile SIM pack.Tested the speed through speedtest.net .
Average DL speed:2000Kbps+-
Average UL speed:100Kbps+-
Why upload speed is so slow?Capped by Umobile?

Since you are using the sim pack, this means that you can simply swap ISP as well right?

You can try out Digi Internet. Last time, when i tried to attach my files to send it over email, the upload speed is nice.
*
Oops,can swap ISP?
How?Just simplt change APN name?

maybe they scare of congesting base station as currently most of them are based on HSDPA,low on the bandwidth.I hope they could deploy HSPA+ technology in Klang Valley asap,at that time, they may open up their pipes a bit. smile.gif

I said failed - not able to connect internet at all if on celcom network roaming.
after trying and try, finally i know the reason.
if we want to use it, we must create APN profile for celcom and manually select. it will able to connect EDGE.
Well, try to open FB, it's open like dial-up speed....
At least the answer now is , able to connect when network roaming under celcom @ EDGE.
*
If you're using a smart phone, maybe there's a setting named 'data roaming'.if you have it and enable it,you don't need to set celcom APN then,it will automatically connect to EDGE when you're roaming under Celcom.
btw,i just did a speed test on EDGE:DL-120kbps,UL-forever loading... tongue.gif

Me also no idea how to check quota balance.

Added on April 27, 2011, 11:10 am

ok, will try that.

Added on April 27, 2011, 11:10 am

maybe all new prepaid now is 3G only.
*
The new SIM Pack is not 3G only, but it is designed to smooth switch:that means when you're are in U3G coverage,it will lock it in Umobile base station and only roaming to Celcom network there no any U3G signal. So generally speaking, that is 3G preferred setting that maximise the coverage of 3G as well as improving Umobile's overall performance.

For example,in other telco like DiGi/Maxis/Celcom,you will find even in some places you have 3G signal, but if 2G signal is very strong, your cellphone will adopt 2G as your preference at that moment unless you manually set staying on 3G only.

In Umobile, don't know what technology applied, once you have 3g signal, you most probably stay on it until it's too weak to handle the connection,it only switches.Maybe they do some kinds of optimising work on it.

Any guys have details? tongue.gif

QUOTE(chuahcs79 @ May 4 2011, 01:12 AM)
actually weeks ago the u mobile websites did stated there is a lot of coveraages in penang georgetown area, so then i decide to buy u mobile sim pack in 7-eleven here and lucky me they did help me to activate as a lot of 7-eleven dont,. and then once i try out in the coverages area with my ZTE MF 627 and Dlink DWM 151 modem both modem cannot get connected to their network even under the HSPA+ network area,. i though the modem suppose can get connect and we only surf up to the speed of our modem can support right?

so i call the Customer service, they did follow up and very helpful and go through everything, after 3 days they follow up, next thing they remove the coverages in penang whole georgetown off from their map, and until now they still didnt update it,

so i was hoping to get some info on any user in penang try out at which area stable and stronger connection can let me know?  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

maybe it's still in testing?i do notice that the dl speed in my area is slower than before.Previously i can get more than 1500kbps,now even at midnight only can reach 900kbps.The network is being congested???
