Hi, nice conversation here.

I am a new UMobile U68 Prepaid User. I don't undertand a couple of thing about U68 prepaid. Hope somebody here can clarify it. (Thanks in advance.)

Bought and activate about one month ago with RM70 top up. Now going to expire soon (10/5/2011).
I already got the throttled speed 0.10kbs. Today I already topup another RM70 (30 + 30 + 10) but when I send balance inquiry, it said my expired date still on 10/05/2011). ??.

Everytime I topup (3x) I received this message
" Thank U for topping up. Dial *118# to check your credit bal. UNLIMITED Internet,Facebook,Youtube, free 100mins&30SMS at RM28 per mth.Dial *118# to activate"

When I check balance I receive this:
Content: RM0. Your Balance: UB68 Balance: Unlimited Usage Expiry Date: 08:20 10/05/11

Later I received: " RM0. Anda telah dapat 30 min masa berbual on-net & 30MB data percuma, sila guna sebelum 31/5/11.Dail *118*1*3# utk semak baki Freebie. Terima Kasih"
What is that? What It gonna do with my top up?

Question:
1. Is that situation normal?
2. Can I top up before expiry date? Will the expiry date lapped with earlier top up?
3. Do I need to wait until expiry date then i will get normal speed?
4. Say, I never top up for 3 months, after 3 months can I top up the same sim card.
5. Since I have U68 prepaid, if before expiry I top say RM30 only what will happen? How about I top up RM30 after expiry?
6. What about if I top RM10 today, RM30 tomorro and the next day RM30 which within 3 days the total is RM70, will i still get the U68 unlimited.

Thank you.

-- it going to do nothing, just give you 30 minutes on-net call, and 30MB free internet biggrin.gif
your balance would still be the RM70? *118*1*2#

Your plan is just a normal prepaid, can make calls, sms, video calls, mms, and there is option to get unlimited broadband package (UB68) with RM68

6. reference to 5., you can topup anytime, I don't know if UB68 is auto-renewal, it wasn't last time, thus, you had to *118# to subscribe it
*
Thanks you Mitodna,

I need some time to digest what you said but here a few that obvious to me:

"Your plan is just a normal prepaid, can make calls, sms, video calls, mms, and there is option to get unlimited broadband package (UB68) with RM68"

I don't get it why you said my plan is normal prepaid, I bought starter pack at UMobile Time Square. Told the seller that I want U68 unlimited broadband for laptop. The staff there did everthing : activation, topup up to M70, no problem with that. I think got the right U68 plan but when you said I my one is just normal prepaid it got me worry because I just top RM70 today. Do I still need to activate again?

"... you had to *118# to subscribe it"
I need to subscribe again? I thought I already subcribed.
The subscription doesn't link with sim card number?
Had to "subscribe" everytime we top up? Emm, kinda weird.

I need to call CS tomoro.

just simply answer your question,
the sms that you receive every time after reload is just a promo/alert ( i also received )
as i know, every monthly broadband eg your U68, you have to wait 30 days then only reload and re-subscribe again.
So even you top-up now, you are not able to get full speed because it's still within 30 days and not expired yet.
But don't worry, the RM70 top-up still valid for 90 days on credit. ( not check from broadband usage, u should check credit balance )

If you think you are a bit heavy internet user, you may get another prepaid sim to use.
Mean that if SIM 1 quota finished 10 days. Just leave it. Don't top-up.
Top up to SIM 2 and get another 5GB @ RM68.

If you use  about RM200 for 15GB, you should consider other internet telco.

Thank you Karheng,

No wonder the expire date remain the same. (I read someone post here the expiry date can be "overlapped" if you top up before the expiry: so that is false).

."..you have to wait 30 days then only reload and re-subscribe again" I supposed mean after 30 days expiry. So we can top up after expiry after all? How long exactly after 30 days expiry then we cannot top up to the same SIM card?

Actually just now i am confuse about your statement, that is why i did not comment on it. I guess top up cash into the prepaid is not the issue, but the internet subscribed would only be available for a month, then you have to re-subscribe the internet again.

Also, is there auto renewal for this kind of subscription?

"I guess top up cash into the prepaid is not the issue, but the internet subscribed would only be available for a month, then you have to re-subscribe the internet again"

If we need re-subcribe again, its like we start afresh right? It is like buying a new starter pack and top up RM68. The only thing is we don't need to buy a new starter pack.

That also mean the the U68 plan doesn't exactly link with your sim card, right? What happen if I just top up RM10? Since it not enough for U68 plan, can I just top up RM10 activate the U10 plan (with the same sim card).

Am I right to say when you already have a sim card, you can choose what plan you want. You want U68? just top up RM68 and activate. You want U20 just topup RM20 and activate. So anytime you change your plan. (I guess something wrong here)

Mitodna, followed your tips on *118# I can confimed my one is UB68 Broadband.

Tried a couple of thing on *118#, found out:
1. My balance is RM98 valid till August 2011. Now, where is RM98 came from? Less than a month ago I top up RM70 and today is RM70.
2. Also tried to activate the uB68 it say my current subsription sill haven't expired. So can confirm, "YOU CANNOT ACTIVATE UNTIL THE PLAN EXPIRE FIRST". I will simply wait for expiry day.

Since you can only reactivate AFTER expiry that raised 1 question:
Is there is a time limit after expiry which simply cannot reactivate anymore? How about I activate it 3 months after expiry date? How about 15 days after expiry date? Can I do that?

karheng, your "2 sim card with different expiry date" sound like a great idea. But it depend on the answer my to last question above.
(if you can delay the re-activate then it's a very great idea for heavy user. If not, then doesn't matter if the two card has different expiry date or not, it cost you the same, double)

Quantum_thinkingYou said "if any plan is not yet activated, it is normal to assume that subscribing to other plan won't be an issue".

Your use of "activate" and "subscribe" is confusing to me. Since there is no plan activated that mean we don't subscribe to any plan, so what you mean by subscribing to "other" plan?

Thank you for those who reply to my question few days back on UB68 unlimited broadband.
Confirm it is NOT auto renew. You need to activate the plan again)

For UB68 5G unlimited:
Somebody here mentioned that you need to wait for a few days after re-activation then your speed will back to normal. I asked customer service about this and here what I understand.

Maximum 5 days (1/6 of a month?) for the throttled speed to go back to normal speed after re-activation. It is because the reset is NOT automatic and somebody from technical department (TD) only can do it. Technical dept. only available office hours time, so no point calling CS after office hours. CS can inform TD when they come back. So, avoid re-activation after 5 pm especially on Friday. Avoid re-activate prior to long holiday say before CNY. You need to wait until TD people come back from holiday then call them to remove the throttled speed.

Can't they make a mechanism to reset it automatically?

The reset should be auto on normal speed, TD thing is those exception case?

So, have your UB68 lapsed? Then it should be auto normal speed,
*
According to CS it's maximum 5 days to reset to normal speed.
Could be earlier depends on TD. I guess they check it manually.

Dude, it MUST be lasped, if not you can't even re-activate it.

Depending on the user as well. Digi RM15/week internet auto renewal does not impress me since they did not tell the user that they implement until the user found out themselves.

Rm68 is not a small amount though. I guess from the easy menu can set it to renew automatically every month.
*
I think chuahcs79 is referring to reset automaticaly the throtteld speed back to normal. (not the renewal)

I am not sure there is easy menu to set it auto renew. I don't there its there.
Anyway, it better not to auto renewal, you have the advantage to renew (re-activation) when you feel like it.

eh, from your previous post, I remember it is somewhere 10th May?

so have you manage to reactivate by means of purchase a new 30 days duration?
*
Yes, I posted that. I haven't activate. I can't activate until my 30 days period over.

I call CS and give them one scenario. That pre-emptive action on my part.

A tips:
If you buy a new starter pack make sure you activate before 5 pm. Bcoz 30 days from now, your UB68 will expired right at the exact time. If u active at 6 pm, your plan will expire 30 days from now right at 6 pm. Even if you re-activate, noboy will reset the throtted speed after 6 pm. If it on Friday then you need to wait for Monday to call them to reset.

Those that distrupted since Friday, too bad. I am sure you thought you can surf extra on weekend. Need to wait another weekend :-(
Happen with any internet provider in Malaysia.

X-crusader, I have half-expected that actually.

Shoudn't any internet provider (not just UMobile) has 24 hrs Customer Support (Technical Department too)?

Oh forgot to suggest, have you try use Celcom 3g roaming line?

Okay. Currently maybe because there is distruption on some area.
How about normal time (try again)?
I can surf (UB68) using Celcom 3g or Umoblie.
But when I put the simcard into my phone it only accept Celcom but not Umobile. (simply bcos my phone is not 3g)

Is that cs in your name is a secret code referring to customer service :-) bcoz I have a lof of question.

Hmm, surf on Celcom 2G when you have UB68, it properly will drain your credit?
*
With UB68 there's no way surfing can drain your credit. RM68 is for 30 days access, nothing about credit.

I can surf on celcom 3g (via PC) not 2g (haven't tried). I am clueless about this: what the difference surf with 3G or 3G? In term of speed?

My phone is NOT 3g phone. If I put the sim into my phone it cannot connect with umobile (although listed) but okay with celcom (not sure 2g or what). This connection for calling only not surfing.

my3g or u3g depends on your package.
Unlimited Mobile Internet RM28, my3g
U Broadband, UB40, UB68, u3g

I am thinking if umobile is temporary down, you can access via Celcom 3g. Might be useful.

I am not sure about Unlimetd Mobile but I m using Unlimted Broadband:
No, my UB68 APN is set to my3g (as advised by the sales person when i first buy the starter plan).
(I can use any APN: my3g, u3g and celcom3g - no different in term of speed)

but u mobile internet service work can roam on celcom2G network ,. said as the customer service in u mobile service centre in penang here,..
*
I think that's the difference between Umobile Mobile Internet Plan with Umobile Broadband plan.
I can't use celcom2g simply bcoz I am on UMobile Broadband (but I can use celcom3g)

p/s: I already re-activate UB68 yesterday at 6 pm, I don't find my throttled speed back to nomal yet until now. The speed is not automatically reset for me. Called them at 9.00 pm last night about this. Let't see.

Can't acces certain website?

Blame it on UMobile dns cache. They should flush and refresh dns cache from time to time and often.

After 3 days of re-activating UB68, my speed were still in throttled 110 kbps ( Called them twice, on second and third day. On the 2nd call, CS pissed with me, said I already made a report before and no need to call about that again. Told me too, I was not the only one having the SAME problem.

I can confirm, once re-activated for a new subscription month, the capped speed will not back to normal automatically. The CS told me it takes 3-5 days for the speed to reset normal. Let just say, expect it 5 day then your speed back to normal.

After 15 minutes of my second call (on the 3rd day), within 10 minute finallly they upped my dl speed to 1.00 mbps but the upload speed still 0.05 mbps. On the 8th days, my speed stuck with that.

Why we need to call them just to tell them that we already re-activated and begging them reset our speed?

Also, note that my first month of using , the speed normally is more than 2-3 mbps but now on 2nd month it is only 0.90-1.10 mbps. Why UMobile is doing that? Temporary?
