Hey guys, assuming that my MaxisBB detects HSPDA coverage as < 10%, is it safe to assume that it'll be the same for U mobile? @@
*
Doubt it. My area, DiGi's 3.5G signal is full while there's barely Maxis 3.5G coverage.

come 2011, Umobile users will be able to go online on Umobile's 2G, meaning roaming on Celcom Edge/GPRS...
Really? drool.gif I'm waiting to dump my DiGi Smartplan - too expensive as I use a little over 1GB a month. U's UB40 will be a life (and money) saver! rclxms.gif

Hi everyone! U-mobile broadband start data roaming on Digi network already?
because just now use my 3g handphone seacrh network, it display two U-mobile 3G and one U-mobile 2G networks.
I assume when you use UM sim card and data roaming on Digi it will display Digi networks as U-mobile.

If this is true that this is a good news for every UM broadband user.  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

Nope. Still Voice/SMS/MMS roaming only, and still on Celcom. Heard that EDGE data roaming, also on Celcom, is due very soon.

Anyone knows when their Celcom-EDGE roaming will commence (yes, I know their BlackBerry users can do that already - but I am not using BlackBerry)?

I think U Mobile should allow people the option to buy extra bandwidth like what Celcom and Maxis are doing. That's the least that they can do to make the 42Mbps HSPA+ worthwhile.

In the meantime, does anyone know if and when Batu Gajah in Perak will be covered?

Speed test in Batu Gajah, Perak (Kampong Pisang, to be exact - not an officially covered area). Impressive, but result was attained by using external 16dBi antenna...

My speed test is finally showing me as being somewhere near KL, instead of Brunei smile.gif

Another offtopic thing - this morning U Mobile sent me browser settings on my 2G phone (I'm using U Mobile prepaid as well, for voice). I wonder (and hope) if it means pretty soon we can data-roam on Celcom?

That problem only surfaced about 2 weeks ago.

You're in Pasir Putih right? I'm leeching the signal off from your South in Batu Gajah. So basically same area I think...

is this normal? i thought gprs line suppose to able to reach 200kbps?  icon_question.gif

GPRS theoretically could deliver a maximum of 114kbps. In my experience however it is comparable to dialup at 50-60kbps...

Celcom full of hidden costs.

Xpax claim to have 28sen 10 minutes pricing but take note of their call block.

They are the only celco which caps speed based on all the package you subscribe and their plans are horribly messy.

So many messy plans Xpax, Celcom Blue, UoX, SOX...
Maybe their own management don't even keep track of all their promotions or planning.
*
On top of that, their XpaX STILL use the super expensive adjacent and non adjacent call scheme of up to RM 1.80 a minute. Not many people are aware of this because it's buried deep inside their site in puny size font.

yes you can put into modem. 300MB/month. After exceed will cap your speed. No extra charge.
I think this is just good for lite internet usage smart phone user ( like me ).

300MB for computer internet browsing is too little. Better go for RM40/2GB or RM68/5GB broadband.

It's actually 500MB

SO far in KL all I experience UL speed is no more than 57kbps. Ipoh / Lahat I could get up to 500kbps UL.

I'm actually happy with anything exceeding 1Mbps. Not being complacent but years of substandard speeds has sort of narrowed my expectations. Ha!
