Modem brand/model?

I can no longer login with my Huawei USB modems anymore too.

Surprisingly my ZTE USB modems still work.

call UM to unlock your sim as your sim is "locked" to ZTE's or rather UM's "official" modem's

can i reload the broadband credit at 7-11 too?

does the phone configuration is included in the starter kit?
or just msg to *118# and it'll configure the automatically?
*

if tats the case, then go subscribe the NEW rm28/mth package tat comes with 100Mins of talktime to all local telcos and 500MB of Internet data, remember to topup rm30 and above cause tat will entitle you to 15% topup bonus , eg rm30 will get you rm4.50 cash bonus after abt 60mins , credited into your account, unlike another celco which credit into your ac ONLY after 3 mths and into another separate ac which hav no "CASH" outright value...........( not a smarter choice anyway ) doh.gif

can your rm28/mth roam on Celcom 2G data, i strongly believe it can, care to test it out as u are subscribed to it and can u go online using a modem instead on your fon?

Hi, I bought a E1762 modem from maxis and try on with the UB10 to test for the speed.
Unfortunately, when the time i click connect i will have the problem of connection terminated.
And the signal shown is Celcom edge.
Is it my area unable to UB plan?
Or is it the modem problem?
I already tried the services activate the Remote control xx xxx and  also the telephony and delete a file in the all users account.
none of them works..
now is already too late for me to try it on another area..hope someone can gives me some clues..
*
put your UM sim into a 3G fon and "force" the network settings to only WCDMA and see weather u can see UM3G, if yes means your area is covered by UM3G, btw where is your location?

fyi, ZTE hav built lots of towers recently to facilate the launch of the 42Mbps in KL,Sban,Melaka and Ipoh

Looking at uMobile site everyone gets to trial the 42mbps speed provided they have the right equipment.

Be it UB6 to UB68, you still can achieve 42mbps but with lower volume before it goes PAYU.

Added on April 14, 2011, 10:00 pmSo the upgrade would be 42mbps DC HSPA+ for both Penang and JB

While Klang Valley, Ipoh and Seremban (Central Regions) will be getting LTE?

Now here comes the not so good news.

If the LTE upgrade is true, then those of us who live within LTE coverage will not see much improvement for our existing HSPA modems because LTE is not as backward compatible as HSPA+ 42mbps.

With a Huawei MiFi HSPA device, although I'm getting slightly improved upload speeds(around 300kbps), my downloads can never reach 2mbps as previously. All these even with full signal bars.

If upgrades is in place, we should be getting something nearer to 5mbps but I'm no where near that.

and by the way 500mb is a lot if you're going to use the SIM entirely inside a smartphone without teethering as a phone modem & watching Youtube on it.

This is from experience that Youtube app is one of the highest consumer of bandwidth.

Smartphone app downloads and news/weather updates won't take that much bandwidth.
*
i believe its Dual Channel HSPA and not LTE yet

and btw, JB currently is only enjoying 21Mbps and not DC HSPA, only Single Channel HSPA

we in the central region will be upgraded to Dual Channel (DC) HSPA which max out at 42Mbps but you have to use this modem to enjoy it

http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/prod...2462&treeId=462

lets see how it goes ..........

btw, i still din get my E372 yet doh.gif , how to test?

Our information minister recently said that there would be 2 companies which would offer 100mbps soon.

Hinting from the information gathered through the news the two 100mbps LTE players would be Celcom and uMobile confirmed.

I can't found the 3g signal~~
Currently I put the sim card into my phone and it indicating umobile 2g..
is it my area not supported?
I try a few locations, same.
I lived in Penang, Taman Paya Terubong.
Thanks:)

if UM2G shows up , means your area is not UM3G covered yet, however you should try it out again in the town center or at places where u see lots of telco towers

The Huawei E372 will be obsoleted and will not perform optimally with uMobile's ZTE equipment.

Word has it that ZTE will introduce a newer DC HSPA+ modem soon which is the ZTE MF680 to uMobile.

It is better to use the same modem brand with the equipment vendor for good compatibility reasons.
Before this my oem ZTE modem seems to prompt out errors each time I click on the connect button.Had to clcick cancel 2 times before it resumed.

However after the upgrade works it seems to have connected without the code error anymore.

I believe we should wait for the new ZTE MF680 modem instead since all this time, uMobile supplied free ZTE usb modems with their old HDSPA plans.

Added on April 16, 2011, 2:06 pm

ZTE UniRAN solution is SDR based and therefore the transitional upgrade between HSPA+ to LTE can be made by just a software update.

They were the first in the world to introduce commercial SDR equipment and the built it in HK the last time if I could recall it right back in late 2008.

ZTE built the latest towers for UM DC HSPA implementation, i too thinking of buying the ZTE DC HSPA modem but its not available locally now doh.gif

you knoe where can get it?

QUOTE(karheng @ Apr 18 2011, 03:38 PM)
i just got my U prepaid to testing at my house and office. Activated yesterday.
Reload RM15 ( with RM5 preloaded ), now is RM20. Then go for RM20 broadband,300MB/month.

Speed at USJ 21, 1.5Mbps
Speed at Desa Sri Puteri ( Desa Petaling ), 11th floor also same average 1.5Mbps
only thing is upload speed slow.
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1257309476.png

thinking to MNP my hotlink to U. Then go for RM28 package, with 500MB/100min/50 sms for my HTC smartphone....
low usage only just good for FB, little web browsing...at least NO EXTRA CHARGE after exceed 500MB, but still can get lower speed....
*
smart move thumbup.gif

and i advice u to topup rm30 cause u will be entitle to 15% reload bonus which is rm4.50 and 90 days validity for voice/sms

first, you may try to get a starter pack @ RM8 like me. Suggest you buy direct from U service center, because prepaid sim need to register and activate also.
I bought from 7-11, then have go to Berjaya Times Square to activate, so it just me drive 2 places. Wasting time.

Another method buy online from www.u.com.my
They will send to you.
Last week i went to BTS, the guy said if buy online, no need to go there register again.
I have tested key in and buy online, but failed to choose number...
The new sim card already preloaded RM5. Then reload RM5 minimum from M2U, you can try U10/30 days/100MB broadband. Or RM6/day/500MB.
Remember there is quota . So don't top up too much, if not, after quota it will charge RM0.05/MB.

If the speed ok for you, then just reload to get the package which is suit to you.
U68/5GB is recommended, because no extra charge after exceed quota.
*
QUOTE(Quantum_thinking @ Apr 19 2011, 11:03 PM)
I buy in 7 eleven, but i go to Sunway Pyramid to activate it. 7 Eleven does not help the user to activate the prepaid sim card. doh.gif

RM28/month unlimited package is the best so far by U mobile.  rclxms.gif
*
why take the trouble to go here and there to buy the UM Starter Sim pack and buy Reload?

read my signature, i can do all of those stuff for you guys and even send u the new sim pack to your doorstep via Pos Ekspress

PM me for more details thumbup.gif

Thanks
