last i check, postpaid ubsim is data-sim only. cannot make voice/sms/mms.

the other postpaid is postpaid voice plan + broadband tag-on. this is similar to prepaid voice plan + broadband tag-on.

officially stated as 5GB, but most users here only get throttled about 10GB.

finally found the caveat of Digi Discover Day:

QUOTE
This is essentially a DiGi broadband package that works at full speed from 7am to 7pm daily, with a monthly usage quota of 3GB.

Between the hours of 7:01pm and 6:59am, the speed will be throttled to 128kbps and peer-to-peer software completely blocked from working (which implies that from 7am-7pm they will work).

The expected, or as DiGi calls it – “likely average speeds” from 7am-7pm is 700kbps down, and 200kbps up.

http://mytechnews.info/b/2010/11/digi-disc...-good-deal.html

so for everyday, you get throttled to 128kbps at night doh.gif sweat.gif

you will be capped about ~10GB eventhough the official FUP is stated 5GB smile.gif

you basically get 100% bonus before being throttled (5GB+5GB) sweat.gif thumbup.gif

umobile does not roam in digi network.

as i posted earlier: umobile broadband exclusively utilises its 3G infrastructure.

if a user is outside of um's 3g coverage, no data services is available.

the reason why umobile sign domestic roaming agreement with celcom is to allow nationwide coverage/service for voice/sms

meaning user from e.g. Kelantan, Terengganu, Sabah, Sarawak, etc. can enjoy umobile's voice plans (prepaid and postpaid).

I can confirm with you that UM subs cannot use data other than in UM 3G coverage.

In regards to Voice and SMS, doesnt it make sense that if you`re hook up to Celcom 2G network it will be as if you`re Celcom sub?

In short, UM sub get the coverage area as wide as Celcom 2G coverage.
*
hookup to celcom 2g network ONLY for coverage.

charging is purely from umobile. meaning: if umobile charge 1 sen per minute (example only la), you can enjoy this rate whole nationwide.

this agreement, i think, is to allow umobile users to have voice/sms connectivity even when outside of umobile 3g network.

hav any users outside of the UM3G managed to login via Edge now?

who knoes?
if yes, meaning DiGi is covering the Grey area of UM  thumbup.gif

and hence the 128kbps cap icon_idea.gif
*
tried that before. cannot dial sweat.gif

oh btw, throttling/speed profile is set by the provider, not from the network speed.

remember last time Digi shouted 14.4mbps network? but all their plans are lower than that and they cap at 128kbps?

network capability IS NO realistic achievable speed. it is all up to the service provider to assign.

Added on November 25, 2010, 10:59 ama little off topic: YES wimax service smile.gif

it has voice (voip) and broadband.

what if the network is down? can you make voice call then? biggrin.gif

Does anyone has same problem or just me ?

call CS to lodge an official report. only they can answer these.

Umobile is  Very problematic. My U68 speed is only around 100kbps for the past two weeks which is drastically reduced from 700kbps. Anyone has this problem as well?

Seriously frustrated with them cheating on customers. mad.gif

could be throttled after reaching your quota.

and btw, read the previous pages: there could be new throttle speed when FUP kicks in.

if YES wimax interferes with umobile, why not to celcom/maxis/digi too?

or better still, affecting directly to P1?

if such interference will occur, would MCMC assign wimax spectrum to wimax operators, knowing it will interfere with existing telco giants (celcom or maxis)?

for the problems so far, there are 2 types:

1) slow speed after throttle; whereby users are ignorant/refuse to understand the need for FUP.

again, if ppl jumping to other telcos, i wonder which of them offer higher throttle speed >128kbps? Digi? maxis? or dare i say Celcom???

remember: compare the price too, dont just look at one aspect (i.e want cheap cheap plan, but want unlimited everything! who's going to give you such service?!)

in short: you dont get both unlimited speed and unlimited quota. you get either, or.

i.e.

you get unlimited speed, but you will get throttled after a certain limit [FUP]

if you want unlimited quota, you dont get unlimited speed [not offered by ALL wireless broadband telcos, but only from Streamyx]

2) lately there are some connectivity issues stated by few users above. wonder what are the reasons.

any1 got the answers from CS?

agree on the frequent dc. not so good.

do let them lodge your report and give them some time to check. CS are not network engineers anyway, they can only assist whenever possible to resolve your matter. wink.gif

dont expect anything higher for upload.

it's a network limitation. umobile is on hi-speed downlink packet access (hsdpa) only.

yes

different service provider has different network capabilities and of course, different plans for consumers.

that is why malaysian broadband users are all scatterred/switching between telcos. it is like job hunting! lol

1 user has good Digi coverage does not mean I have good digi coverage. same goes to usage pattern. I may download more, you may upload more.

in the end, equal comparison between telcos are difficult. it is not apple-to-apple. it is more like variety-of-apples comparison.

try to compare them on equal ground:

1) mobile wireless/devices vs mobile wireless/devices
2) home wireless/devices vs home wireless/devices
3) fibre vs fibre
4) copper vs copper
