Quite a number of public universities are having strategic or channel partners to run so called "market driven" courses at COMMERCIAL RATES to "desperate students".

Are the lecturers from the public universities? If yes, where do you find the time and are the quality of their own students being compromised just to earn a few extra bucks?

The original intention local universities creating new platform for working adults to continuous learning is to ensure Malaysian workforces are employable and remain competence. If you must know, one of the reason why all Executive Diploma offered by local university has no MQA accreditation is because this program was started some 2 years back. The university require sometime to prepare and massage the program from time to time to fit in MQA requirement.

What's important to know now, is that UMCCed is the FIRST university complying to MQF for all its Executive Diploma courses. This mean UMCCed courses are on its way to be accreditted by MQA. There is no specific time frame fix however the University is being optimist of having earn the MQA accreditation by next year (2011).

If you are free on following weekend, I invite you over to Kulim High Tech Park for a free PREVIEW. Perhaps over the preview, we'll be able to clarify your doubt on Executive Diploma and Degrees by local Uni.

Certificates and Executive Diploma students of University Malaya will have the leverage to pursue their degree in any other local University aside to UM on part time basic subject to results and University approval. Executive Diploma is newly introduce by local universities as part of Malaysian government intention to ensure Malaysian workforces are employable and has require competencies to perform their routine job. To earn MQA accreditation, university must comply to MQF which is the framework for MQA.

University Malaya Executive Diploma has no MQA accreditation at this moment but are complying to MQF. The university management is presently working towards MQA accreditation however it will require times and efforts from all parties. For this moment Executive Diploma from UM is recognize by UM and few others local university as transition to DEGREE. Hence potential students who graduate from UM Executive Diploma will not meet up with road block instead many options on hand to continue pursue degree to local University via part time basic.

The purpose of Executive Diploma is to enhance employability and competencies of an individual and ensuring individuals has the correct skills, ability and cognitive behavior which is deem important in today's borderless world. Previously, Executive Diploma is one terminal where upon completion it has no other value other than formerly stated.

Sensing the need of paper qualification and demand from market provider (industries players), UMCCed is listening to the need of markets and students (working adults). What has been done was SELECTED few of the Executive Diploma courses from UMCCed has been re-structure to meet the requirement of MQA with the intention to provide continuous learning for all working adults.

Many lecturers, senior lectures and professors here in lowyat understood that it is impossible to earn MQA accreditation over night instead a certain rigid procedures need to be comply accordingly before any courses can apply for MQA accreditation. That explain why many Executive Diploma in market are not MQA accredited. Despite the rigidity, proudly to state here, UMCCed is the FIRST local university re-structure selected few of its Executive Diploma courses to be incompliance to MQF which is part of the process to MQA accreditation.
