I saw the picture but I cannot determine how bad is the dented area.. But it looks bad in the picture..

Can you take pictures from different angle or measure how deep is it? Sometimes, do to too tight or too much pressure applied, those "direct heat pipe" cooler might dented a bit on the base (at the edge of processor).. If it just a very tiny dent it shouldn't affect the heat transfer..

p/s: if you return the item, will the seller refund you?
