Sorry, but based on the above, I'm strongly curious why do you want the N900? As from your requirement, this N900 doesn't seems to fit your requirement. It's doesn't have good phone functionality and as a phone, it's not as reliable as most of the phones out there.

If you really intend to use this phone, you really need to do many things in order to appreciate it.

Unless you really like the design, the OS, the phone itself and don't mind it's limitation, then you may consider this phone. There're users out there which don't install other things and just practically use it as a normal phone, they buy it because they like the UI, the phone design, etc. and there's nothing wrong with that, the important thing is that they know what they want.

The reason I'm saying this is hope that you know what you're getting and not regret later. Many people purchase this phone and ended up disappointed and sold it away simply because they got it for the wrong reasons.

I totally agree with the above forumer said if you are not sure what you are getting yourself into get iphone.

Sweet! MMS not popular here i guess.
guess you have to do more research on that, N900 by large lack of almost everything but the good news is the community add them back.
if you're a frequent MMS user without a data plan, my advise is get a data plan or get another phone.
Yes by data transfer rate, not normal MMS rate, so if you got offer for MMS; it still charge you based on data plan.
1) If it's GPRS, it need your permission before accessing. Simply click NO when it asked.

2) A-GPS, satelite with Sygric (offline maps). Ovi Maps used internet though.

3) Depend on how big is your picture, normally just an exta few cents, it's 5.0 megapixel how large it can be.

4) I heard if you installed chinese, virtual keypad gone.

5) Factory setting is sufficient for most of the case, even with alot apps and games. But since you are not going to install many thing, it work fine.

Just wondering, do you know what's N900?
It's a tablet with phone features, not phone with tablet features.
From your question, it seem that you need a phone more than a tablet.

;D

sounds like u own a n900 ehe

hi, i wanted to to it bcos i did install a number of applications onto my n900. what's actually happen is my n900 seem to have some problems as followed:

1. it takes more times to open any new application.
2. the conversation widget (SMS) and contacts list doesn't show my previous SMS, when i click on SMS or conversation box, it says "NO CONVERSATION", what i had to do is to restart my n900 to get back the old SMS. same thing goes to CONTACT. i presume it was caused by the lack of memory.
3. my n900 do "hang" sometimes when 4-5 application were open at once.

4. anyone knows how to send business card with n900? i can't figure it out how....
5. im looking for the game "choh dai di" game, anyone knows one for n900.
6. how to clean-up my n900 as i had beed installing and un-installing software every now and then, i presume there must be debris left on my n900.
cheers,
smart14

just curious:

1) How good is N900 resistive screen? I read reviews, it all say "Amazing resistive screen", "What a resistive screen", "The best resistive screen". But how good is that, comparable with not bad capacitive screen?

2) Why everyone compare N900 with Iphone, they're not even in the same price range.
*
They compare because they do not know what they buying. Everyone say what's good they buy because majority choose iphone

I just plainly dislike Apple product.
Overpriced, not exactly using highest available technology as advertised, heavily locked os(even after jailbreak),marketing strategy, simply refuse to accept that their product sometimes have problem etc2
For me N900 is like Concorde. It's more to engineering achievement than a mass end user product.
I think other engineering student will feel the same thing as I do.

Buy from LYN, cheap but you got to stick it yourself. By the way, what's the price in Gerik now?

From my opinion

1) i dont believe u carry your DSLR everywhere u go there too many theft currently. Do you wanna keep in your car? Put in your bag? I do own a DSLR but i only use it for special occasion.

2) Gaming ipod touch battery is like crap it can only last like 1hr - 2 hrs of continous gaming pros its small but it comes with a burden battery life.

3) 'N900 is amazing on internet capability but on music and camera its only average.

Conclusion do u realize comparing 10 different things when Nokia n8 will have all in ONE. So in future are u planning carry one Nokia , one LG, one SE , ipod touch , one DSLR to have all those features?

My point is if the phone is for normal calls , music, minor games, movie (support divx) ,point and shoot camera, n8 is an ideal phone. N8 camera is better than SE satio because its one of the largest optical sensor on mobile phone. From a DSLR user POV they will understand why it matters

If internet connectivity and flexibility and new OS its for you then n900 its the perfect choice.

So if future u can combine n900 with n8 u will have everything u need in hand.

yup..aspire is right.. but i believe N8 is just another product from Nokia to relieve the attention and question from the crowd.. it's true that N8 has overall feature but the formation of overall doesnt mean we can fully enjoy the feature.. like if we snap 12.0MP photo and listening music, how about phone feature? this bring to the same concern on iphone(which known as a best gaming device but what for? battery last for few hours only if we keep playing high processor game)..
nothing is perfect(i agree with this)..
*
i agree with u one that even the phone have 12MP we wont use that large. But with better sensor means better output quality. From my perspective the question is not whether we fully enjoy the feature but we can choose whether to use or not those features. The power is having option than totally none.I have an iphone 3GS i can tell you the battery is a joke i use 45mins for games and minor phone calls already showing low battery but the games are really fun.

In the end, N8 is a GREAT cameraphone and the N900 is a GREAT tablet. Pick your poison.

Or wait for the next Meego superphone.

Although, I'd rather Nokia update their messenger/business line (the E-series) as well - the E72 with a better, sharper screen would be killer really (I'd ask for the E71's stability as well, but that would be asking for too much lol).

But if they don't, I guess the supposed N9 would be oooookay lah. Fully working USB-OTG has always been a killer feature to me.

Yeap you are right pick your poison haha or both happy.gif the problem with the OTG u need a converter. If it can plug directly it would be even better

E72 and E71 the screen is too small. But for business its should be sufficient.

12Megapix? I believe N8 has the best camera at the moment in the market. Not going into detail to explain, but definitely beat the crap out of satio. Satio is a joke from SE. As usual SE got no stand in making phone, they always copy the others.

Dolby, this is another joke, audio enthusiasts will not believe in this THX, Dolby crap.

Nowadays, buying a phone is not about, camera, speaker quality unlike a few years back where people are so particular about them. If people want quality picture, they'd go for DSLR and Music, grab a good IEM and AMP with a normal player is good to go. No one cares bout these anymore.

OS on the other hand is the main concern in getting a new phone, especially we talk bout flexibility, ability to custom this and that, better support of apps and games. The longevity of the phone depends greatly on the OS.

satio running symbian lol. Currently most ppl prefer all in one now
