QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ May 12 2011, 08:16 PM) I think you got the concept of street photography really wrong. Some pages ago... posted Kai explaining what is SP... Chris Week's here http://vimeo.com/6497905i know exactly what u mean, what i am saying is of the fear of really going out shooting at strangers doing something...

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ May 22 2011, 10:32 PM) If you're after just candid shots of people on the streets, then tele is the way to go. But only when you mix with the crowd, hear and smell them, then u can capture the moment... then you get more depth and emotions in the photos. Sounds like bollocks.... I didn't understand this at first and l thought exactly like you but then I realize I'm making excuses for my own fears. After all, there's never been a notable street-photographer who uses a longer lens than a 50mm and there must be a reason for that. eh Sniper, kasi sikit comment with mine n see, i also just starting to shoot street with my s95, but can only shoot from pretty far away.. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ May 23 2011, 12:30 AM) Shoot more lo... like from the first picture, the little boy doing his homework in a pasar malam with the dad (assume) looks on could be interesting if composed right. Don't just shoot straight away when spot something interesting, anticipate, wait and get a good angle/composition. I don't get the second pic. okok, let me try again, hmmm, anticipation's not something i can do when i was actually shopping at that pasar malam... anyway, the 2nd pics was just a shot of the kid who was trying to ask the mom for money i think, then so happens i was there so i took a shot at her...

sniper, after going through all the pics from pg 1 (again), i think i finally understood what you meant... correct me if i am mistaken, street photography captures pictures or scenes or emotions or something that we missed during our routine walk-in-the-world-with-our-eyes-closed? ada betul ka?

QUOTE(highwind85 @ May 27 2011, 02:34 PM) because you're comparing a dslr shot and and P&S shot? sniper's using a canon dslr... or maybe some post-processing can help enhance your photo... mine is using AV, F2.0, distance around 5m away, exposure 0. slightly blur i think was due to the satay stall beside... but how how? doable or not? even if i do post processing, anyway to create final pictures like the ones u guys posted?

QUOTE(highwind85 @ May 27 2011, 02:55 PM) you can try...increase the contrast a bit, increase black clipping a bit... not a pro in post-prosssing....just mess around with the options in Lightroom... small sensor will suffer in dynamic range....that's for sure.... yeah, dont have lightroom now but let me go back and try with photoshop... thanks let me see how i can get my s95 to challenge all the big guns here! and i think the biggest challenge for me now is also how to take pictures without even requiring to do any post processing This post has been edited by adam_lss: May 27 2011, 03:24 PM

sniper, i can only say what wonderful pics! noobie question, did you use flash or were the pics edited under HDR? coz the dark part seems to be dark enough while the bright part seems to be just bright enough! and the best part i didnt notice any grainy details!

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Jun 7 2011, 02:46 PM) Thanks... Didn't hdr or flash.. I used a -2/3EV throughout and meter for mid tone. That helps with avoiding blown highlights with the lights and bright signages. With the S90 is more difficult and slower cos have to use histogram and dial in the EV. wokay boss... tonite's assignment, metering and histogram for s95
