I am wondering the strength of the gypsum board partition can hold 40" LCD TV weight about 25Kg each.
I want to mount 4 units in a row.

Any good contractor to recomend?

TQ

Yes, you can mount on gypsum board but at the back have to put small pieces of wood to screw it in. Otherwise screwing into gypsum board will not hold the tv. Sure to fall down...

Well a proper installation with hardwood backing and also 'U' channels is very important to support the weight. Izzit against d wall or free standing partitions?

It is notmal office gypsum board partition along a corridor.
So I think is free standing partition.
Since it is 2 layer of gypsum board, which mean I have to cut the opposite partition to install these LCD with the hardwood?

Checked with my partition supplier. Cannot do.. The best is to ask a carpenter to do it. They will make a box-up with a layer of either mdf board. Partition board are made of calcium silicate and some other materials. It is soft and fragile without a proper backing. Google or wiki to find out more.

Like I quote above, u need very strong backing to hold the LCD weight. Initially I thought of doing the same, but my carpenter quoted me around rm 2500 for a 2400mm width x 2400mm width box up, a lump sum quotation. The reason I wanted to make the box up is to protect the wall, but put in mind that the backing needs support from the wall as well, so there will be more holes on the wall. So I will ask the installer to drill a holes on the wall to support the bracket instead. Btw, mine is a 50" plasma. smile.gif

gypsum board definitely cannot hold LCD/plasma TV.

you need at least 15mm MDF secured to strong frame or wall for the bracket
