I'm going to Shenzen soon, I'm thinking to get an AVR either Marantz 5004 or Denon 1910/2310 in HK coz I heard it's cheaper. But as to counter ketam, I think just bring back the amp without the boxes and other things should be ok right???

Do you guys know where is the place to shop for Denon or Marantz AV receivers in HK ?

Since HK is considered ar SAR China. I think the import duty might not be applicable. Probably only pay 10% sales tax only if hand carry it back.

This HiVizone is actually located at Sai Wan Ho and it's far from my hotel, I'm looking for places nearby Monkok if possible...

Mongkok got 1 complex... the whole basement is hifi/av shop... it located somewhere near Fa Yuen St. You probably can ask around while at Fa Yuen St.

Is it confirmed AVR is cheaper in HK & Shenzhen?
I could be wrong, sometime when I read their mag and I didn't notice any significant price differences, after considering to bring-in with custom risk.

The last time I kenal custom few weeks ago was when I brought back some network equipments, they insisted I have to pay 35% tax because of PC computer items, how ridiculous mad.gif

I'll be there early next month, can someone who actually bought before share more experience & information like which model, which shop+who to contact, roughly how much cheaper compare here?

On another subject, I saw the Onkyo TX-SR308 recently and is tempting to buy for connecting multiple HDMI devices (eg, Byond, Xbox360, DVD, HDPro+, etc), since I'm not expert in this field, would really appreciate some sifu here to comment/suggest and recommended shop to buy.

Thanks in advance!

computer related devices should be tax free
however networking is under telecommunication, which is taxable

I believe you are referring to this:

Prosperity Building, Nelson Street, Mongkok

It's the one with the brown signboard. First store on the left is called Michael's Audio. They are authorised distributors for mainstream brands, including Denon and Marantz.

@ echoesian - you've opened 6 separate threads on this forum in the past days relating to your upcoming trip to Shenzen/HK and your intention to buy Marantz/Denon AVR. i don't think u need to open so many threads for each and every question you have. may i suggest that u either close the redundant ones or merge them. thanks.

Yes it is indeed a lot cheaper even added the custom tax, it will be still cheaper but just a little bit. IT stuffs should be tax free.

But after some research, apparently, Singapore is much cheaper considering it is also nearer, it is better to buy in SG in case of warranty issue...

Anyway I'll still scout around in HK maybe can find good price for the Denon 2311...

Serious, that I didn't know blink.gif blush.gif
I think when the custom officer saw the equipments got some LAN ports then they treated it as "telecommunication" items....
anywhere, it was "settled" eventually brows.gif

I'll be in HK & SZ early Aug and might be driving down SG mid-Aug.
Even AVR is cheaper at these places, I'm still very worry about the custom ....
You know, they just want to "makan" only tongue.gif

I think we can ask the dealer to declare a lower value on the invoice and in case kena ketam .. no choice kena pay tax but for AVR, we only need to pay 10% sales tax and for speakers, we need to pay 10% sales tax + 15% import duty.
