Hi. I'm newbie here. I've been reading all the thread available but still couldn't sum up the best reason to work with tnb.

so anybody kind enough to share with me the experience, working as an engineer with tnb.

cause I've already heard that somehow in 2015 tnb will not hold the authority in the transmission and distribution department. so this rumor really smack me in the face.

bojek,

1) Are you a BUMI?? That plays a MAJOR ROLE as to whether you can get into TNB to begin with.

2) It is a GLC with all the GLC associated problems.

I do want to work with tnb as I knew that tnb is the best way to increase my knowledge in the electrical field, and they do provide good training to their staff. it's just that i'm hoping to get more big bucks by working with tnb. is that even possible?

btw, i'm a electric and electronic degree holder. so that also makes me wonder if I'm relevant enough to work with tnb?

but I do take basic electric course as it is compulsory, and power. E. that's all to it.

if you want to make big buck with tnb, you can. but consider joining thier subsidiary TNB REMACO. Their function is more like a service provider in repair and maintenaince of power generation sector. They do utilize electrical and mechanical engineers a lot. Good exposure and learning process. Did my internship there. Many of their engineers are in hot demand by other big shots in power generation industry like Siemens, GE and other IPPs.

One more the thing, go to hell to the bumis / non-bumis issues. this kind of mentality will held back our nation to move forward. By the way, I'm a chinese. I dont see any problem with that.

from what i heard. you can join tnb remaco thru their PEP program. During interview, probably you can specify your interest to be placed at tnb remaco.

If so, during the interview, do they ask any required, specific skills? and do E&E degree suits tnb remaco job scope?

then let me ask this, what kind of risk I'm facing working in tnb?
i heard they provide job security, as in not fire anybody even though we're going for bad economy times.

I work for TNB, my background is engineering but I don't really work as an engineer. Suffice to say I'm one of those desk-bound type:) . My daily work is very niched and very few people in the country do what we are doing.

TNB not holding the authority in the transmission and distribution divisions does not mean those electrical engineers will be in trouble. If anything, it actually is a good thing because it may provide more opportunities for them if there are more competitors. But not so fast on this yet, this whole industry restructuring is still in very early stage. We don't know yet what the structure is gonna be like.

Distribution is interesting. I suppose you know distribution is the final end in the whole electricity delivery chain. They are the closest to our customers. Of course everybody is entitled for minyak claim when you are outstation.

Risk? I've heard many people wanted to join tnb and glcs in general for job security. Well I can't tell you so much on this since I've only been in the industry for a few years, so I can't really make a good judgement as to how secure you'll be in TNB lol.

TNB's benefits are not that great as used to be during LLN times. Salary is average per to market salary right now, the only way to make tons of money is through your claims etc.

My 2 cents is that if you are an engineer TNB is a great place for u.
