i had a friend like that too.. he cried and said he got no money to buy his gf any birthday gift and all.. then i lent him 100 (instinct told me not to lend too much).. then he kept promising he'll return it to me when he had the money. he dragged on for a whole year.. i finally told him.. Keep the money, its charity. and then i cut all contact with him..

So lesson learn, lend money to your really trusted friends and not to those who you kenal kenal only. Don't easilly trust people.
