Kos will definitely be used as Vermy's partner... Chamakh is a bit unsure as Robin will undoubtedly be our first choice CF whenever fit, but since Robin's not around he'll very likely to be used in the centre during these preseason matches.

Somehow I feel sad for Rambo since he's likely to get a run of games in the coming matches and preseason tournaments had he not sustained that fracture. Damn you Shawcross

The 3rd kit is our blue pyjamas from last season, while the dreadful white-grey third kit will be gone, thankfully.

I am thrilled to see:
1. Wilshere running circles around the Barnet players. He will be our Ozil in a few years' time.
2. JET being our most versatile player ever.
3. Frimpong showing signs that he, and not Diaby, can be our new Vieira.
4. Kos looking comfortable as Vermy's partner.
5. a proper football instead of the Jabulani balloon.

I fail to see:
1. how Traore can surpass Clichy and Gibbs.
2. how Jay Simpson has a future with our first team despite being a very good finisher.
3. any improvement in our crossing.
4. why Rosicky and Nacer decided to ditch their Piresque mane for a schoolboy cut.
5. how Nacer can knock on the first team's door this coming season. Injuries have surely hampered his progress.

Overall it was a good first half and a so-so second. Oh well, bring on the Austrians !

Maybe because 1) we already have too many attacking players 2) he just ain't suitable for us.

Anyway, bye bye Gallas and Silvestre... looks like Robin is really asking for the number 10 shirt in order to succeed Bergkamp.

It seems that Arsene will be trying out different keepers in the preseason matches to determine who's our new number 1. Whether we'll sign a new keeper remains to be seen, but the only confirmed thing is that Al is no longer first choice. I believe if we don't sign anyone we might stick with FlappyFabianski and that is indeed a shuddering thought.

And again, fck off Barca. Which part of NO do you guys not understand?

JD still has his old habit of hanging on the ball too late, plus being out for so long there's always the risk of recurring injuries. Vermy is a surefire starter, let's hope JD and Kos battle it out and may the best man win.

It's not very often that we get a MU fan interested in Arsenal due to the rivalry
But we welcome anyone who enjoys Arsenal's football.

Bak may not give you fancy 10/10 dazzles every week, but he offers solid performance consistently. His crossing improved towards the end of the season although our lack of a striker that attacks the box apart from Nik prevents us from utilising crosses efficiently. And yes, this is an aspect that we could learn from the Germans.

Sad to know that Dudu might be off to Shaktar Donesk. He could have achieved much more with us, for us. Too bad the leg-breaking injury and the witchhunt destroyed his confidence. I still hope that Dudu can stay and prove everybody wrong but with the emergence of Nik and the arrival of Chamakh it's probably better for us to take the money now and risk losing him for less/nothing next time.

I can understand the allure of Bergkamp's number 10 shirt for Robin, but not sure why Vela wanted the 11 shirt instead of 12. Hopefully it will spur him on to push for a permanent spot on the LW although with Arshavin around it will be very tough. Vela didn't seem ready for the physicality of the EPL last season although frequent long distance travels and injuries may have limited his appearances.

Not really.... lots of teams are sponsored by Emirates. When we played Hamburg in CL 2 seasons ago the away team had to use "Dubai" as their sponsor.

PSG too have Fly Emirates as their sponsor.

2. Pires almost went to Real Madrid, we almost didn't get Wiltord due to Bordeaux's excessive demands post-Euro 2000. Reyes was linked with many other clubs before we emerged suddenly out of the blue with his signature. Negotiations have always been difficult, unless we act like other clubs who splash money like no tomorrow.

3. The emergence of rich sugar daddies made the market so inflated that every club who's looking to sell will want to squeeze extra money. Note that half a decade ago Beckham, who was arguably the world's most marketable player, costed 25M. Nowadays 25M only gets you Emmanuel Adebayor; and if you want marketability, pay 80M e.g. Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer fee.

David Dein's contributions will never be forgotten, but he was also the one that opposed the magnificent Ashburton Grove project, plus the way he tried to sell the club to Usmanov who seems like another crazy sugar daddy; although to be fair till today we still don't know whether Usmanov will become our Roman Abramovich, or Mike Ashley.

Great kickass game last night... much better than any of the lousy world cup games (apart from Germany-Uruguay):

Good:
1. Kos looks like the real deal. He complemented Vermy very well like Gallas normally does, and most important of all he rarely lets his man go. Currently it seems that he would be ahead of JD whose feet aren't as quick and the risk of recurring injuries will always be there.

2. Chamakh, Chamakh... Chamakh ! Chamakh ! Chamakh ! Played the Robin role very well, in fact he seemed very eager to display some fancy footwork. Much more pacy than Robin will ever be, and the way he shaped his body whenever he shoots is very reminiscent of Titi. Nik has some real competition here. I am looking forward to seeing how Chamakh and Robin will work out... With Chamakh around Robin can now drop deeper and play the Bergkamp role to greater effect.

3. Frimpong looks even better than Eastmond as Song's backup.... Fearless display by the kid in all our preseason warm up matches, he seems more like the new Vieira than Diaby will ever be.

4. Rosicky's importance is once again shown in this game. He may not be the same player prior to his long term injury, but his quick thinking, turns, and mobility are vital to keeping our midfield running. Once he left in the second half our midfield just lacks the fluidity and control.

5. Gibbs is pushing Clichy real hard now... I still think Clichy is our number 1 choice, but don't be surprised if Gibbs manages to oust Clichy like Cole did to Silvinho within 2 seasons.

6. Letting go of Flamini isn't really that bad after all. He was very eager to score to silence the booers, but his role as Milan's defensive wall wasn't well executed. Seedorf was the one covering his ass all the time. He could have stayed and became a vital part of our team, but he left and missed out on regular first team football even with Milan. Despite me being a huge fan of Matty in the past, I have no sympathy or affection towards him now.

7. Despite the plain design, the new home kit looks really classy on TV. Starting to grow on me now...

Bad:
1. Young Jack is unfortunately not ready for regular first team football despite all the hype. Very good display by the kiddo, but he is simply too small for the robust weekly games. Nevertheless it's time for Jack to get some regular 10-20 minutes every week like Rambo did before the fracture.

2. Luk, to be fair, did pretty ok; but he doesn't instill the defence with much confidence. Got beaten by a two world class strikes from Milan and was fortunate not to concede. Arsene, please stick with Almunia (or just gamble on Woj instead) if you're not buying any new keepers.

3. Sorry Randall.... your Arsenal career just isn't heading anywhere. Could have and should have won the game for us but that's not the main reason for the former statement. He just didn't look like he fitted into our midfield system. Most likely will end up like Muamba, Larsson etc playing for lesser clubs.

4. Our defence still tends to have concentration lapses, our finishing still isnt' the sharpest yet. Too many chances wasted.

5. Theo looked lost as central striker... Maybe that's why Arsene insists on playing him on the right for now. Having said that, Milan struggled with his pace and as long as Theo is fit he could still be the one that turn games around for us.

Overall we should have won the game but I am happy about how we bossed Milan around in the first half. It's only preseason so results don't really matter that much - the players' fitness and our team play are most important.

We're not playing Lyon (which is a shame really) as in the Emirates Cup tournament each team only plays twice. And we already know our next opponent is Celtic.
