Emirates Stadium stands to be re-named

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that the stands at Emirates Stadium are to be re-named for the start of the new Premier League season.

As part of the overall ‘Arsenalisation' process currently taking place at Emirates Stadium, the Club has decided to re-introduce the names of the stands from Arsenal's old stadium, Highbury.

From the first home Premier League match of the 2010/2011 season against Blackpool on Saturday 21st August, the stands at Emirates Stadium will be known as: Clock End, North Bank, East Stand and West Stand.

The existing quadrant colours on all maps and directional signage will be changed in time for the Blackpool match, to recognise the re-naming of the stands; and fans purchasing tickets for the match on Saturday 21st August, will also notice the relevant changes.

The Club is also proud to announce that new Clock End, which is at the south of the stadium, opposite the new North Bank, will be the home for a new Clock inside Emirates Stadium from next season.

Supporters will be able to see the new Clock in the stadium from the Emirates Cup, but the Club is planning an ‘official welcoming' for the new Clock before the Blackpool match to commemorate this historic moment.

These developments are part of the process currently taking place at the stadium called ‘Arsenalisation', in which the Club's rich history is being celebrated through illustrating key players and moments through many initiatives, which are turning Emirates Stadium into a very visible stronghold of all things Arsenal.

All supporters are reminded that the new stand names and associated maps will come into effect from the Blackpool match on Saturday 21st August. Therefore, the existing quadrants will remain for both days of the Emirates Cup.

Messi confident Barca will seal Fabregas deal

Barcelona star Lionel Messi is confident Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will complete his return to the Nou Camp, with the Argentina playmaker reiterating that he "would love him to sign for Barca".

Lionel Messi and Cesc Fabregas are friends, but will they soon be team-mates?

• Sagna: Fabregas departure would hurt
• Wenger calls on Fabregas

Arsenal, who rejected a £30 million bid from the Catalan giants at the beginning of the summer, have remained firm in their stance that their skipper is not for sale.

Fabregas has made no secret of the fact he would love a return to Barca, where he started his career as a youth-team player before moving to the Gunners in 2003, and admitted on Friday that he is torn between the two clubs.

Barca players, many of who progressed through the famous La Masia academy with Fabregas, have long pleaded with him to come back, and Messi has reiterated their desire.

"It is no secret that Cesc is my friend. The whole world knows that and I would love him to sign for Barca,'' Messi told Spanish television station Cuatro.

"I hope that the matter can be resolved soon and I'm confident that in the end it will be resolved in the way that Cesc can be a Barcelona player.''

Fabregas still has five years remaining on his Gunners contract, and on Saturday manager Arsene Wenger called on the Spain star to make up his mind where his future lies.

The 23-year-old is set to link up with Arsenal after this weekend's Emirates Cup, following his extended break after winning the World Cup with La Roja.

How about changing the story to Fabregas confident about Arsenal sealing Messi deal icon_idea.gif

Lots of poor defending after Vermaelan got sub out.

But actually i hope Arsenal didn't win the cup as before start of the season they always win it and then end of the season end up disappointment.

Koscielny last night did a completely miss tackle that cause the striker to run freely all the way to goal but save by Almunia. Nobody seems to mention about that.

Yea Djorou man marking was poor last night but how long have we not seen him in field?

We should be glad he played through and not getting injury instead.

players come n go. somebody will replace cesc. When henry goes, all people said we are doomed & will out from big 4. Suddenly adebay scored 30 goals. Who knows?

Some club has 30 mil striker, but nowhere near expectation.

Paddy go, we got flamoney, after that we have song

the PROBLEM is barca want cesc cheap2. inflation is everywhere

I like fab rot in reserve more rather let him go cheap.

Barca, tak ada duit tak ada fab.

Vermaelen - I'm confident we'll win the title

Thomas Vermaelen expects Arsenal to end the season as Premier League champions.

The Belgian defender was a vital cog in the Gunners defence as they challenged Chelsea and Manchester United until the final weeks of the 2009/10 campaign. He even got forward to score seven goals in the top flight, emerging from his first year in English football with a glowing reputation.

Vermaelen believes this season will be even better - with a major trophy at the end of it.

“I'm always confident that we can win it [the title]," he said. "It’s our ambition to win it and we will do it this year.

"My dream is the same as every year - to win the league and do well in Europe and I’m sure that’s what we’re going to do."

This time last year various pundits were tipping super-rich Manchester City to usurp Arsenal in the top four. They were wrong - City were pipped to the final Champions League place by Tottenham while Liverpool dropped down the table - but don't be surprised if similar predictions are made this summer.

Not that Vermaelen is concerned. The 24-year-old is well aware of City's spending power but has faith in Arsène Wenger's policy of investing in youth.

“I don’t think money is the key to success," said Vermaelen. "You can buy as many players as you can but it doesn’t mean you can win titles with that.

"The most important thing is being able to play as a team. Manchester City have bought some really good players but now it’s up to them to make themselves into a team.

“Building with youth is the right way to do it because sometimes you have big talent in your club and the boss is right to give them a chance. You saw in the Emirates Cup last weekend that they can do well so maybe they can do something for us in the first team this season.”

The news was fake from the very first moment just like how right now about Ozil.

Barca is poor like a Portsmouth so expect nothing but words from others now.
