Central midfielder Jordan Nobbs, 17-years-old, has already enjoyed significant success since graduating from Sunderland’s Centre of Excellence and later joining the senior ranks. Jordan helped Sunderland to Premier League promotion and to the FA Women's Cup Final in 2009. On the international stage, she has won the European Championships with England U-19s and has captained the national side at U-15s, U-17s and U-19s level. Jordan also comes to Arsenal fresh from being awarded the FA Young Player of The Year 2010. Versatile Steph Houghton, 22-years-old, can play in defence, midfield or up front. She joins from Leeds Carnegie Ladies, where she was part of the team that reached the FA Cup Final in 2008 and win the League Cup in 2010. Like Jordan, Steph is a product of Sunderland’s academy system and a one-time Black Cats player. She has represented England at U-17s, U-19s, U-20s, U-23s and is now a full international, with ten first-team caps to her name. Arsenal Ladies General Manager Vic Akers said: “I have every confidence that Jordan and Steph will be terrific additions to our team. “Jordan is only 17-years-old, but has already shown huge potential, and I’m confident that she will prove herself on the highest level, when the Champions League gets underway in September. I should say, Jordan’s signing was possible only because of the excellent relationship we enjoy with Sunderland WFC, and I would like to thank their manager Mick Mulhern for all his help with this matter. “At Leeds and Sunderland, Steph has proven she is a terrific player, who can play in a whole range of positions.
