Comparison of Horsepower & Torque for 2.0L models

Honda Civic - 155HP / 188Nm (1315kg)
Kia Forte - 156HP / 194.2Nm (1326kg)
Waja Inspira - 155HP / 199NM (1358kg)
Toyota Altis - 147HP / 187Nm (1315kg)

cybermaster, will the whole package deal for Inspira better than Forte?
I'm saying the specs, the price etc apart from the horsepower and torque above

Do you usually drive with the spare tyres removed? If not, you need to include the spare tyre's weight.

Surely not. The Forte has more features and is more value for money if compared to specs alone. But the Waja Inspira will sell well also because its a Proton. But how well we dont know since its in a different category and not many can afford to fork out 87K for the 1.8A
*
Being the end user, would be keen to know which is a better option rather than the sales stats. so u r saying Forte wins in terms of the specs (only?) and make it a better option?

This has been mentioned many times before. U first need to decide your own needs. Only then can u know what is important for you. Your needs might be different to mine. But generally when u consider buying a car u should take the following factors into account:

1) Price
2) Specs
3) Build quality
4) After sales maintenance costs
5) Fuel consumption
6) Resale value

No car will have all the factors mentioned above. So its up to you what you consider important for your own needs. The Waja Inspira will have the advantage of item 4 & 6 while the Forte will excel in item 1 & 2 and maybe item 5. Item 3 is left to be seen and difficult to determine at this moment. Judging by past history both Kia and Proton have had quality issues so it would be fair game there for the current models.
*
Right, that's fair. A relative is considering Forte but not sure if Inspira should be included in the list. will ask hiim to revisit his needs instead. Thanks.

If he/she is considering a Forte best to wait till the Avante is launched next year. Anyway, i think its silly to buy a car at this late stage in the year. U buy now and by 1 Jan 2011 your car is already 1 year old.

Thats why Proton is launching the Inspira with the 2 yrs free service for cars collected by 31 Dec 2010. Because they need to push off the current stock before the value drops. So even if u miss the 2 yrs free service, its still much cheaper than losing 1 yr of resale value (which can be as much as RM5K).
*
Resale value may not be a concern if the intention is to get a real good worth car and keep it.
But ur note on the Avante did wake me up! brows.gif

Anyway, i tot Avante is already here? saw one such white beauty last month OTR and made my jaw drop! thumbup.gif

1) Resale values will make a big difference even though u sell after 5-7yrs. My friend just sold his 2003 Sonata 2.0L for a 80% loss. Comparitively a 1.5L 2003 Toyota Vios only loses about 40% of its value after 7 yrs. Of course they are different segment cars as well.

2) The Avante u saw was the current model. The upcoming Avante (or Elantra as it might be known as) will be a 1.6L brand new model designed by a new team of designers. It will have a real 6 speed gearbox the same as the current newly launched Sonata has. There are many pics of the car on the net. check it out. It really looks classy. There's even a Kia Optima that will be released next year as well.

U mean this? But this is the one I saw the other day. am not so up-to-date on this..

Me myself have to wait for more than 4 months last time. & i heard that got others who wait more than 5 months for the 2.0. So i think it is true..at least for the 2.0 Forte. Naza surely cannot cope with the demand for the 2.0, maybe due to lack of supply from their principal (KIA Korea) coz of high demand worldwide.

Lately, i notice that there is no showroom car for Forte at the Old Klang Road branch. & so happen that i also dropped by at the Naza HQ few days after that with the same situation (no Forte showroom car), only got the test drive unit. So i ask one staff there where's the showroom car..& he said that "semua showroom car pun customers dah angkut". Meaning that there is no Forte left in their stock for the time being (& yes..including the 1.6). They also not sure when the new stock will coming in. I dont know whether the same situation applies to other branches/dealers..

Perhaps KIA wanna send here the facelifted version?..so that's why they put the supply on hold for the time being..who knows??
*
Not a healthy situation - demand more than supply, so --> customers cry.gif

I mean, why would the extended warranty for new Forte only and not for all?
Maybe the later batch is more prone to problem?

Hi guys, a SA from Subang Jaya branch told me if want extended warranty (additional 3 years), then have to add RM600. But since I did not book the car then, I cannot confirm whether it is true or not. For me, adding RM600 is a cheap "insurance" against the expensive things that may go wrong from year 3 tp year 5 - only RM200 per year!

I am so in love with Forte but will only be buying around May next year. Hopefully by that time, it will be the facelifted Forte with 6-speed auto gearbox & 16 inch rims!  rclxms.gif

addition 3 yrs? Mileage?

Dear all potential buyers,

I write in this blog as an attempt buyer to purchase Forte and my experience left me with each and every regret.  To warn the potential buyers of Kia from Penang, especially Juru Autocity branch, i post my recent complaint to Kia HQ for reference below.  I am at a lost here and not sure what I should do.  I hope no one else will suffer the troubles that I been through.

*********************************************************

To Client Management Manager,

I would like to lodge an official complaint towards Naza Kia Juru Autocity branch.  I placed order for Forte 1.6 SX in August and was promised delivery by August 27.  However, the car is not

delivered until now.  Various excuses were used including robbery at Kia, system down, relative sick, consume cough syrup and cannot wake up etc., causes delay until now.  I paid full downpayment through 2 checks, the latest delivered on

24 September 2010.  I have the check number for reference if required to.  This is not the worst, the worst that worries me is I made a mistake to trade in my old Kancil with Kia as part of downpayment for new Forte.  They promised a

bill of sale with second hand car dealer.  I transfered everything including JPJ voluntary ownership transfer form to Kia, by now I have not received any valid documents for ownership transfer.  There is no evidence of second hand car

dealer in play as well.  I am really worried that I have been cheated and my car will be used for unlawful purposes without my knowledge.  Communication with both Kia sales Jaya and her manager Linda broke down.  They

are impolite, nonresponsive and keeps mentioning I do not have anyone else to go to except the sales executive, even to the extend of asking me to be "baik baik" with sales and said I do not have right to put manager in between.  I am so

at a lost here, worried and frustrated.  I regret all decision to transact with KIA and would like to cut off all transaction with KIA, I do not want to buy the car anymore, and I want my Kancil back.  I would like a refund for all

transactions made.  Please help to advice how should I go about doing this.  Thanks.
*
Sorry to learn about ur experience. Hope u get ur car and refund back.
Btw, this is Naza's issue but affecting KIA's reputation.

posting on behalf of a friend which is planning to upgrade his almost 1 year old 1.6 forte ( end of 2009) for a 4wd cx-7 (due to sudden work requirement).
he went to a few used car evaluator and to his shock, they value his car at less than 55k!
mileage was around 3x,xxxkm. bought cash.
btw, we know korean car are notorious for it's drop in resale value but this is just too much for a newer model like the forte.
anyone can confirm the 2nd hand value of the forte?

thanks in advance.

That's bad. is that an EX or an SX?

will insurance company quote 55K also for forte when we renew insurance?
or will they quote high price? what i know is when we claim insurance, they will follow market value..

so who's determine the 2nd value for new car?

insurance or market demand?
*
Should be the market demand and insurance company refer to market value for min sum assured.
Maybe the seller can find out from insurance company what is the figure of their market value.

First of all, the insurance premium quoted will always be much higher than the actual vehicle value. Thats why when u renew insurance, you should always do your own homework and find out the market value of your car and then tell the insurance company to quote based on that value. Dont let them tell u the value cuz it will always be higher since they want more premium

Secondly, insurance companies have their own evaluators and adjusters. They usually have a master list of vehicles in Malaysia with prices for various years and models. The same as Toyota has for all their models according to the age.

how do u suggest to do the 'homework' (find out market) for a new model?

Hi bro Epo,  thanks very much for the informative post. Regarding the Agreement. Can that really work as an "agreement"? I mean, do we need to have a stamping chop from lawyer to make it legitimate? My concern is that the dealers can just simply sign it and claim that the agreement cannot put into play when issues really arise... hmm.gif
*
I believe as long as you have the original signed copy of the agreement, that's should be good enough.
If still not satisfied, just get the stamping done (RM10 i think?)
