Can't agree more. I still don't get those who are so hung up over the performance of "Civic vs Forte". Want a pseudo-performance car to compare whose d*** is longer, oops I meant whose car is faster, then don't bother buying either la.  doh.gif  tongue.gif
*
lol..i drive both daily since back in terengganu la haha..
Design wise, forte wins hands down both exterior and interior..
amazed with forte's built quality ler..

performance wise, top speed bout the same.. civic can go up to 230, forte 220,
acceleration the FD2 beats the k4 slightly.. i think due to the long ratios of the 4 speed auto thats limiting the forte...there are times when i feel that 3rd gear is too low, and 4th gear is too high!!
but do remember the FD2 is >30k more expensive biggrin.gif

k20z2 i-vtec is more superior then our Thetha II cvvt slightly, but both are better then 4b11 on lancer in term of acceleration, lancer's Invecs CVT tranny is a bottleneck to its engine.. what a waste.

aiyah so many defensive ppl here...I hate civic actually so many problem cause its made by malaysian monkeys CKD, of cause since the damn engine 2 complex for malaysian monkeys brain honda decided its the only part that they will make themselves in  japan which is y the engine is the only thing good about the cifat!! tested it myself!!!..the rest of the car is bad in quality from all the feeback I got...so I heard the forte 2.0 is korea cbu dunt know true or not which is y I have insterest in it...u all 2 serious.lol..its just a question... no need to uptight...and actually I was hoping the forte 2.0 will beat the civic since its lighter and more powerful...wtf is going on!!! I  wanted it to be true so I can buy a faster & cheaper car...damn....

I think I might just consider Japan CBU mazda 3...but I heard the damn cifat also win!!!! noooooooo damn you ivtec when you gonna die!!!!
*
Mazda 3 uses ford focus engine..produces around 145 HP only ler.. underpowered a bit, but the interior damnn nice..

yes, interior built quality of the civic is pretty bad. things start to go wrong after a year. The current honda after sales service is worse IMO, dont know what happened to honda. Parts are getting expensive and waiting period is insane

Well, I just passing by... Initially wanted to book Forte 1.6SX but in the end I bough Honda City, overpriced yes but oh well, when you are buying a car, which is a pretty big spending, wife always have some opinions on it. tongue.gif

When I test drove the city, I also tested the Civic and the first moment I drove the Civic out to the road and wow... What a disappointment.  I'm not sure whether Honda never took care of the test drive unit or a lot of customers hav abused it, there are a lot of squeaky sounds in the cabin and definitely not as silent as the city test drive unit. The ride is definitely a little bit bumpier as well.

So yeah, I think overall the Civic is not as comfortable as I would have thought at the premium price of rm130k.
*
yep true, really2 dislikes the interior, from the ugly gear knob and handbrake..to the door trim design and cheap power window switch, passengers power window button are not even illuminated!
The front speakers so cheap looking, the HU and aircond knob is CHEAP PLASTIC!!!
i like the Speedo meter tho, the only positive thing from the cockpit view.

U have forgotten another big factor which is the WEIGHT of the car. When we talk power its always a power to weight ratio that must be compared. Not mere numbers.
*
u r dumb la cybermaster..can u stop trolling here..the weight of a 2.0 forte is about 1280kg..while the civic weights 1249.5..basicly about the same..
get out of here la vios troll..
plz do your homework first before posting dumb comments in here..u already made a number of enemies at paultan blog

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Sep 28 2010, 09:49 AM)
Latest sales figures for August 2010:

Vios - 3192 (22,673)
City - 1901 (14,060)
Civic - 1016
Avanza - 924
Camry - 901
Accord - 728
Forte - 448 (3722)
Altis - 390 (3788)
Sylphy - 331
Mazda2 - 181
Peugeot - 161]
Lancer - 152

Im kinda surprised actually. For all that hype about the Forte & despite being in the market since Nov 2009, its overall sales for this year is still below the Altis sales. That too despite the new Altis being launched much earlier at March 2008 almost 1.5 yrs before the Forte. Im surprised as the Forte has got better specs & pricing than the Altis and usually new models sell well. But i guess the after sales service and resale value factors still weigh down the Forte considerably. I wonder how the Sonata will do in next month's figures.
*
Forte sales is low due to low supply la stupid.. go check out singapores sales.. see who is number 1..

So the weight is different right? So whats the problem in me pointing out that fact? Learn how to speak properly. If ure immature then refrain from responding. This is an open forum and im stating facts. If u find it a problem relating to those facts in a mature manner then be silent. Just cuz ure a Forte fan doesnt mean facts change. Grow up while ure at it.
*
Can u plz leave our lovely little forum here for forte owners..
u are the one who DIDNT NOT GIVE ANY FACTS. Did u give proper numbers.. NO. u simply stated everything. The curb weight of Civic and Forte is almost identical, no difference in figures about power to weight ratio.
In fact if u wanna talk about power to weight ratio do you how much power to weight ratio ur toyta has?

The new vios weights a significant 1100 KG!
Weight (curb min.) (kg) 1020 ~ 1150 (Depending on locale and grade)
Weight (gross)(kg) 1480 ~ 1520 (Depending on locale and grade) and guess how much HP the Vios engine churns out?

1NZ-FE 80 (109) / 6000 /1ZR-FE 87 (116) / 6000 (China)

lol..

Can u plz get out of here Mr.Troll

The delays are due to Naza's internal problems as usual. The same problem occured with some other models. The issue about demand is all salesman talk la. Already almost 1 year since the launch and still the same excuse? This excuse may have been valid for the first few months as its with many other car makes as they try to gauge response before ramping up production. But after almost 1 yr there is no such excuse. This problem is nothing to do with Kia but the local Naza dealership itself. Typical Naza.

another bogus bullshit claim by cybermaster again. talking without proper facts.. GTFO from this thread. Go bark at Vios thread instead of coming here. U dont like the forte..GTFO. 1.6SX here selling like hotcakes. Even in terengganu before raya there were bunch of fortes now all empty being sold out..booking list is getting longer but supply from korea is low. The forte is topping toyota in almost all countries (USA,SINGAPORE, CHINA, Africa countries), thats why the low supply to our country.

How expensive is expensive actually? A normal service for a Toyota Vios with fully synthetic oil and changing oil filter and gasket every 10,000km costs RM 293 inclusive of labour and taxes. Plus since my car is old and im a Merit customer, i get free windscreen chemical wash in addition to the normal body and engine wash & silicon for all power windows to aid with smooth operation.

Yes the costs could be cheaper outside but paying less than RM300 for a Toyota SC basic service with peace of mind i guess is worth it.
*
http://www.nazakia.com.my/sedans/forte/maintenance

Fully Syntethic Synthium rm 209
GASKET-OIL PLUG Rm2.50
FILTER ASSY- OIL Rm16.19

SERVICE Charge Rm 102.20
* 5 % GOVERNMENT TAX Rm5.11

Total Cost Rm335

Naza SC provides free Car Wash everytime

Yes thats true but i cant provide Altis since i dont own one. Im not comparing with Forte in this post. Im merely responding to the claim that servicing at manufacturers SC is expensive which i dont think so considering the benefits.
*
toyota also expensive la they charge for FUlly Synthethic, u can buy your own for more then 50% cheaper.
All SCs charge ridiculous amount for the oil regardless of brand.

at the same figure for forte (if fully synthetic). rm300 (fully synt + gasket + oil filter; inclusive labour and charges and free carwash)

what he meant by expensive if the price for engine oil in which cheaper much outside and this is applied to all SC.

Added on September 28, 2010, 3:29 pm

service charge depends on what part they're changing. if just engine oil change should be cheaper at rm70

Hi,

Has anyone experienced this?

When we stop at a slope with gear 'D', meaning you press on your brake while waiting for traffic light or getting parking ticket, then once you release the brake, my experience on other automatic transmission car is that the car will maintain as its original position, but my Forte will reverse abit and you need to press gas pedal so that it won't.

Is this normal?
*
lol how long have u been driving auto?
normal if the slope is too steep la..
