DHD will be release in the UK on 11th oct? but t-mobile cs rep say 18th oct. zz. sien. here is the email they sent to me:

Thanks for your email Inn, asking me when the HTC Desire HD will be released with us along with the tariff details.

I can understand how important it's for you to know when this phone will be released and writing into me regarding this.

Inn, I'd like to tell you that the HTC Desire HD will be released on or around 18 October. However, I wouldn't be able to assure you the exact date when it will be released.

Think the DHD has passed google type testing and is set to launch at Oct 22nd at UK. So AP set should be available shortly after Oct 22nd. rclxms.gif

Now waiting for the HTC DHD & Z Malaysian launch, rumored to be at end of Oct. Will probably only know the pricing and availability in bolehland by then. Keeping my fingers crossed for an early Nov release by maxis.  brows.gif

hope they don delay it again. previously vodafone set to deliver on oct 14th and now they push the date back to 22nd oct. my feeling is UK customer will get it by end of october. the sim free version will be available around early or mid nov as stated by amazon UK.

QUOTE
Dear Customer

Your new HTC Desire HD!

The latest information regarding your delivery has not changed - ‘we are still expecting to be able to fulfil your order by the end of October’.

This will have no impact on you being one of the first customers to receive this amazing new phone!

There is no need to call us, we promise to update you with further information next week.

Kind regards

It's not possible that it become double standard too!
Maybe in Europe, it will be SLCD and in Asean, its only TFT.
We have seen so many consumer item become double standard,
maybe due lack of technical demand.

If somehow we united to demand this! sweat.gif

cant pass through UK credit check. T_T
been a month in UK now and waiting a call to get a sim free one.
playing the phone a while in the store, the screen is massive big !! lol.
i like it. things run vy smooth and to those early badge who receive the phone will be recall as HTC stated that that is not the final release. LOL.
better to wait a few weeks as so many problem arise for the DHD. main problem is the outgoing call where the screen will go blank on certain lighting condition. T+T

so u mean that those which is already in the hands of the user will be replaced with a unit which htc claims it to be the final one?

some of them return the phone back and wait for another badge to arrive.

Below is one of the user doing some research on which phone badge is affected:

QUOTE
With the release of the long awaited HTC Desire HD also came an annoying issue, which has been plaguing quite a few people - some having better luck than others.

From my own personal experience, and from what I've read from others, the main problem starts when trying to make outgoing calls. Depending on the lighting conditions, the screen will go black and stay that way.

If you happen to get an incoming call, the screen doesn't go black at all - even if you put your ear to the phone. So, this is only an issue with outgoing calls. This leads me to believe that it's a software issue (thankfully), and can be corrected a lot easier, as opposed to hardware issues.

After playing around with it a bit, here's what happened in different lighting conditions:

Good Light
I dialed the number and a couple seconds before even putting the phone to my ear, the screen went black.

Poor Light
I dialed the number and as soon as I put the phone to my ear, the screen went black.

In both of these lighting conditions it continued to stay in it's black screen state, and it wouldn't wake up from that.

Short Term Fixes

    * Take the battery out, put it back in, and then start up the phone.
    * Plug in earphones - although, these didn't work for me when I left it in the black screen state for an extended period of time.

If you want more information and to read about other peoples experiences, you can check out
the XDA-Developers forum by clicking the link below:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811285

I personally got my phone yesterday evening, and after reading all the threads, it put me off a bit, but still took the risk and got it anyways. It didn't surprise me that mine was having the same issues, but I'm determined to find a fix, or at least hoping that HTC come out with something quick.

*** UPDATE ***

It seems that phones starting with the following serial numbers seem to be affected:

    * HT0A3RX
    * HT0A4RX
    * HT0A5RX
    * HT0A6RX
    * HT0A7RX
    * HT0ADRX

Added on October 21, 2010, 12:05 amfor more info about it, looks like most of them getting this "sickness". LOL
