I'm still waiting for reviews from LYN users before buying. smile.gif

I want to upgrade my Hero, but so far no phone really seems like a perfect replacement.

Doesn't matter what phone model it is. Unless your data is encrypted, if a hacker has access to your physical device, you can say bye-bye.

Edit: Posted TF2 video instead of DHD video tongue.gif

Hmm, Alpha Dog's review seems quite positive, the main issue of course is still the battery life (or rather, the lack of it).

Edit: And he does not seem to experience the proximity sensor problem reported on XDADevelopers. So perhaps Asian batch won't have this problem.

hi Andrew..  tot u going for n8?
*
Haven't made up my mind yet, BuFung. May go for N8 for better battery life and camera, or go with DHD because of the overall Android featuers.

Maybe I'll buy an iPhone 4. tongue.gif But based on what I've read on the Apple Byte forums, it's a gamble whether you'll get a perfect iPhone 4 unit. A lot of people complain about blue spots in photos and yellow dim screens.

Oh no, I'm not a big fan of rooting and custom ROMs because I need a stable environment for Android application development. My Hero used to flash ROMs often, but in the end I unrooted it and just used HTC's Asia ROM. Custom ROMs update every week and I'd have to keep backing up my stuff Nandroid/Titanium just to get the latest version for bug fixes.

You're right, Sense is a resource hog. I'm using Launcher Pro on my Hero now and it feels much smoother. I also prefer Launcher Pro's animation when you launch programs.

At the recent Taiwan HTC expo, the Maxis boss was there. So expect DHD to go to Maxis. DiGi doesn't seem interested in offering smartphone subsidies except the iPhone 4.

Most reviews seem to say Desire is more practical to purchase because of the battery life (and that's not saying much) and weight.

How heavy is desire Z? When i held it i feel secure and don feel like cheap plastic though. Maybe you doesn't like heavy stuff? haha. well, is all depends on individual but for me phone like SGS doesn't make me feel safe. Too light to be in my pocket until I can't feel it.
*
While the Desire Z may feel heavy and solid and gives you a sense of security, it's kind of inconvenient for some activities like clubbing. Also if you just want to go for a casual event and wear shorts the Desire Z is going to weigh it down. My 148g already feels like a small rock in my shorts, I can't imagine what a bigger 180g Desire Z would feel like.

hmmm... should I go for Desire or wait for Desire HD? What are their major different? I think Desire is doing great right now (Based on my dad's experience), what Desire HD offer?
*
I don't think there's much difference. Although you get a bigger screen and slightly better processor, you also get a smaller battery and increased weight.

originally im rooting for wp7 also...but after seeing this article im a bit skeptical
i guess its down to the individual preferences
Why wp7 is dead on arrival

edit: im on the verge of buying HTC desire because i've waited so long for DHD
*
I have the same thoughts. WP7 doesn't seem very impressive now that iOS 4.2 and Android 2.3 are coming out soon. How long will it take Microsoft to catch up? And don't forget it's theoretically possible for developers to make Android look like WP7, but WP7's GUI is fixed. It may look interesting now, but 6 months later I think it'll look boring.

WP7 has it's target base. Like its ads it's for people who dun wan to spend too much time on their phones. Quite true, considering the amount of things you get to do on it.
*
Actually, I don't think there's anything that you can do a WP7 that you can't do on an iPhone or Android. Well, except maybe the XBox specific stuff. I still think most people will choose iPhone/Android over a WP7 phone.
