Actually, not many choice available if really want to sell player to raise money.

Mascherano, Insua, Babel, are a few name that potential to be sold and able to raise more than 5 million.

The rest like Agger, Johnson, Gerrard, Torres, Kyut don't think the manager wants to sell.

QUOTE(livingmonolith @ Jul 20 2010, 02:36 PM)
while i am still unconvinced with RH managing liverpool, i'm glad that he secured cole's service under the noses of other BPL teams who can offer more money on the table.

if news are true, then we are probably close to remy's transfer as well, considering that the sales of benayoun and insua has gathered 10mil, which leaves another 2.5mil to be forked out from our transfer kitty.

although the LB position is currently vacant, i'm optimistic that a new player will come in very soon to fill the position because the player will know that he will go straight into the first team when they sign on. the only thing that matters now is whether RH is getting a quality player to fill up that slot.

on another note, i may have mistaken, but i'm secretly convinced that masch will stay for another season at least. he may be pegging for a transfer to inter milan, but italian football rulings has included a new law stating that clubs can only sign one non-EU player per season (after the poor world cup performances), and inter has got the quota filled. if the reports are correct, then masch will either stay with us for another season, or leave to another club, but it will unlikely be inter.

In this situation, better sell.

No point to keep a player that is destiny and looking forward to another club.

cherroy: source is BS... and $25mil for Reina. worth it. has been and is one of the best keepers in the BPL for the past few seasons.
*
If the offer come from ManCity, or even ManU, then may be.

AW is not known to spend so big one.

Yes, Reina is very good keeper.
It especially worth for those chasing for trophy one, as a good keeper can mean very significant on the outcome of result, as a win vs a draw can mean very significant on title challenging for top team.

Added on August 7, 2010, 4:42 pmBtw, top or best players not necessary good candidate for captain.

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Aug 15 2010, 08:43 AM)
Having attacking players doesn't necessarily equate to playing attacking football. Last year we had Benayoun, Gerrard, Babel, Riera, Aquilani, Maxi and Kuyt play in midfield, all of whom are 'attacking players'. Even Lucas prefers to play in a more advanced role as he did for Gremio. In the fullbacks slot, both Aurelio and Johnson loves to get forward. Two seasons ago, we showed that when we played a more positive brand of football, we could beat not only the best sides in England, but the best teams in the world.

The thing that I still don't quite get is why we didn't play attacking football last season despite having the same players bar Alonso?
*
Agree.

Football is about teamwork and fluency in attack whereby you play as a team. You cannot score a goal alone without teamate assist through understanding/passes.
You must have teamater create opportunity for you to score.

Last year, the poor performance is more due to lack of fluency and play as a team.
It is not about personnel alone.

You can field 10 attacking minded players, but you may fail to get hold on the ball and having little possession, and not have a single shot on target.

QUOTE(sahathai @ Aug 16 2010, 01:11 AM)
that's a good example of the danger in holding a 1 goal advantage... one crucial mistake can completely change the outcome.. disappointing.. but with 10 men, it's still a good performance ... no complaint

I would say ok lah with the draw.

Actually, Agger is injured already, basically it is 9 vs 11 since 70+ mins.
It is unfortunate for Reina, but Reina did make s couple of world class save.

Ngog is handful for Arsenal defence.
Torres is still not fully fit as seen from the match.

The most positive about the match, is players are full of determination, and playing their heart out. <--- this is what fans want to see, and feel proud about the team, disregard the match is a draw or win.
and credit to RH, didn't swap to ultra-defensive mode, despite being 10 men, with the 3 substitution.

When 10 vs 11, Liv defence still look solid, apart 1 or 2 threat from Arsenal.
But after Agger injured, it was basically 9 v 11.

The most pleasing part is how the team carried on with 10 men.
*
The difference compared last year, is player plays with head up instead head down.

Even with 9 men, Liv/players eager to search for winner after Arsenal equalised.

Those involved in WC one especially later stage one, clearly not fully recover/fit yet.

And all the football pundits can now rejoice! No longer will they have to see the usage of zonal marking in the BPL! (unless some other team now uses it laugh.gif)

Inter might use it. icon_rolleyes.gif

Let see how pundit comments and how paper write .

Lucky or not, doesn't matter, the striker role is to score goal, if the strikers deliver your plenty of "lucky" goal, he is a good striker. You need to be there (the position) to score "lucky" goal as well.

Any goal is savable by GK. Striker is shot beyond GK and strike the ball on target. The goal is not the like a weak shot, with GK fumbled the ball, or due to hand slip. The lucky goal should be the Arsenal goal. It is pure luck, Reina fumbled the ball cross in, hit the cross bar, then bounce back infront of GK, then hit his finger tip or slipping, bounced into the net.
This is what we call lucky goal.

For Ngog's goal, it was a good goal and striker instinct goal and a rocket shot.

Sometimes, credit needs to be given credit due.

20 mil player on loan, is not a good deal.

As the contract run into its course, the nearer the contract expiration, the less value can be recouped back.
