although the LB position is currently vacant, i'm optimistic that a new player will come in very soon to fill the position because the player will know that he will go straight into the first team when they sign on. the only thing that matters now is whether RH is getting a quality player to fill up that slot.

on another note, i may have mistaken, but i'm secretly convinced that masch will stay for another season at least. he may be pegging for a transfer to inter milan, but italian football rulings has included a new law stating that clubs can only sign one non-EU player per season (after the poor world cup performances), and inter has got the quota filled. if the reports are correct, then masch will either stay with us for another season, or leave to another club, but it will unlikely be inter.

Having attacking players doesn't necessarily equate to playing attacking football. Last year we had Benayoun, Gerrard, Babel, Riera, Aquilani, Maxi and Kuyt play in midfield, all of whom are 'attacking players'. Even Lucas prefers to play in a more advanced role as he did for Gremio. In the fullbacks slot, both Aurelio and Johnson loves to get forward. Two seasons ago, we showed that when we played a more positive brand of football, we could beat not only the best sides in England, but the best teams in the world.

The thing that I still don't quite get is why we didn't play attacking football last season despite having the same players bar Alonso?

that's a good example of the danger in holding a 1 goal advantage... one crucial mistake can completely change the outcome.. disappointing.. but with 10 men, it's still a good performance ... no complaint
