i dun understand why u people criticised our young lads like there are no tomorrow for them... can u guys explain this???
this match are just friendly match and more to give kind of '1st team experience' for the young lads.. we got even jack robinson in the team just now!!!
so dun get panic and shouted too early...
what i can say, Spearing, Eccleston, Kelly and Ayala should qualified to be in the 1st team already..
now it's all depends on RH on hw he can utilise them for this coming new season...
*
memang la friendly je tapi sekurang2nya tunjukkan la permainan yg baik flex.gif ...ni takde langsung yg boleh kata mengancam lawan...kalau boleh kita nak kan reserve yang boleh di harapkan kalau player utama injured...tgk macm ayala semalam..ada ke patut tggu org datang rebut bola sampai jadi gol... doh.gif

Ayala did make quite a number of mistakes, but I'm seeing that the defensive skills employed isn't having much of the desired effect.

I'm seeing that Ayala + Kyriagkos combo may or may not work, but Ayala due to his inexperience, Kyriagkos was forced to work overtime.

Initially the pair was okay, one marauding, another falling back, then switch.

And for some reason both played like sweeper mentality.

RH should develope our second stringers more as this is the NEXT first 11 in the coming years

Tony Silva was on target as a John McMahon managed Liverpool XI produced a superb performance to beat League One outfit Oldham Athletic 3-0 to win the Lancashire Senior Cup final.

The Portugese youth international had an inspired game as the young Reds gave a superb account of themselves.

With England U17 heroes Andre Wisdom and Conor Coady immense at the back, McMahon's side played some terrific football.

Gerardo Bruna played his first game of pre-season and scored a well taken goal, and Danish youngster Nicolaj Kohlert also found the net.

"I am absolutely delighted with the lads and they did so well against Oldham's virtual first team," McMahon told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"There was some very good performances and we did well as a team. It's a great sign for the future."

The Reds will be hoping to complete a cup double when they take on Skelmersdale in the Liverpool Senior Cup final next Saturday.

Liverpool team: Dean Bouzanis, John Flanagan, Emmanuel Mendy, Alex Cooper, Andre Wisdom (captain), Conor Coady, Tony Silva, Nicolaj Kohlert (Michael Roberts 65), Nikola Saric, Gerardo Bruna, Vincent Weijl (Michael Ngoo 75).

LOL, i watch that game, Italian defenders were smoking pot. The players can't even complete more than 2 consecutive pass most of the time. Spain possession was like 80%. Last 2 Pacheco goals against Portugal was class though. Barca Spain u19 will play England u19 in semifinal this tuesday.

Real Madrid star Rafael Van Der Vaart last night said:- “I’ll join a big Premier League club if I’m given a starting spot.”

Dutchman Van Der Vaart, 27, pinpointed Chelsea and Liverpool as his preferred choices if he came to England. Midfield maestro Van der Vaart, who cost Real £13 million from Hamburg in 2008, isn’t sure of a Bernabeu first-team place under new coach Jose Mourinho.

He said:- “I have heard of the interest from Liverpool and Chelsea – and that is very flattering. If either of them were willing to offer me first-team football, I will be honest that it would be very hard for me to not listen to what they had to say. I think I have the relationship with Madrid where they understand my position and would let me hold talks. ”

‘‘I expect the majority of transfers to be concluded in the next two weeks, and if Chelsea or Liverpool wanted to talk with me I would at the very least listen to what they have to say. They are both giants, and if they could offer first-team football it may prove impossible to turn down.”

‘‘Real Madrid is the most prestigious club in the world and I am happy here and also in Spain, but I am at the age where I have to be playing first-team football. I am getting to the point where I will be hitting my peak years and I need to spend those years at a club where I will be playing regularly. The boss knows how much he plans to use me, and if he is willing to listen to offers for me.”

And, Van Der Vaart, who has been capped 83 times for the Netherlands, added:- “I wouldn’t be willing to play for any clubs in Spain out of respect for Madrid, so in my eyes the only other place to go would be the Premier League. It’s the only league that competes with the standard of La Liga.”

Nice Van Der Vaart... he plays a bit like Joe Cole, but he is left footed.

i think its always risky signing players who practically 'demand' a starting berth when they arrive. u never know when they'll start complaining and disrupt the harmony within the team.

Liverpool interested in Marcell Jansen

New Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is reportedly keen on Hamburg left-back Marcell Jansen.

The left-back position is the Reds' weakest spot currently - after the exits of Andrea Dossena, Emiliano Insua and Fabio Aurelio.

It is thus natural that the club is being linked to a number of players in that position from across Europe. Hamburg's Jansen is the latest to make the rounds - with Metro reporting Hodgson wants to sign the Bundesliga defender.

Jansen is one of the more versatile players in the German club and can play either as part of the back four or as a defensive midfielder.

With midfield incumbent Javier Mascherano bent on moving to Inter Milan, Jansen would be an ideal signing for Liverpool since he can play either as wing-back or in midfield.

Liverpool have also been linked to Ashley Cole and Sampdoria's Reto Ziegler. While the Cole link is most likely spurious, Metro reports that officials from Anfield have already contacted the Serie A club with regards to making a bid for Ziegler.

It is thought either player would command a price in the region of £8 million.
